We are going to be relocating soon, so I am in the process of taking down and packing up my knitting machines (many with UFO's hanging from them) and getting them out of the way so the movers can work without damaging the KMs.

Also the sewing machines. I think it would be best to move these and my computers ourselves, does anyone have experience with using moving companies for electronics?

The last time we moved it was well lets just say interesting... We have our own semi trucks so hubby borrowed a huge trailer and we packed it ourselves. First he put in the entire contents of our shop and yard items. Next was furniture and household. That baby was packed clear full! I packed all my china, the computer and any other breakables in my truck using good boxes and blankets. We only were going about 15 miles so once we were done packing we just both jumped in and left. Other than all our tractors it only took us one trip and we were moved. Moving is a hard job, good luck and I'm sure all will go great.

Warm Wishes

I always moved myself, only once did we use a mover. Didn't really like the experience. I would just move your electronics and machines yourself. Safer that way, I think anyway. this last move I drove the moving truck and towed my car behind filled with my sewing machines, the computer, dress forms, bolts of fabric and a few kitchen Items I knew we would need ASAP when we arrived.

If you are actually going to pack them up in boxes (I didn't just put them in the car with padding around them) I would suggest you get really big boxes and bubble wrap everything. When it come to electronics and sewing machines there is no such thing as to much bubble wrap, LOL

I never had a choice movers had to take everything as we always had to fly and 7 sewing machines and 3 computers and a host of other electronics I just made sure the insurance they carried would cover all replacements cost too.

We haven't moved to often, but we've always been able to move ourselves. My gut says that you probably want to move your electronics yourselves...they can be so easily damaged by dropping or rough handling. I know that's what I would do! :)
