Posted - Oct 05 2009 : 7:18:25 PM Hey farm girls!
Use old towels; old mattress pads and old blankets; My mom and I have been making and selling "Country Folk" Potholders for almost 20 years now. People love them wrapped around a jar of jelly tie onto a loaf of bread with raffia or ribbon;
You can pick up old mattress pads for a song at thrift stores & garage sales. It is soo cheap.

Posted - Oct 04 2009 : 2:03:13 PM you can also use up old jeans for filling.. cut the size of your potholders and stitch several layers together, as Melody June suggested up above.
:o)

Posted - Oct 04 2009 : 11:11:36 AM Heat will go right through fiber fill and burn you. It can also melt. Layers of old towels. You can cut multipul layers of old fabric, stack them up, sew an X across them on the machine to hold them together. Old placemats.
Smiles, Melody June
