Ok this will be my first try on posting pics from my photobucket account. We'll see if it works.
But first: I found a set of four vintage chairs and table in one of our hay customer's barns. We were putting hay in the barn when I saw them stashed in a dusty corner. I was a little unsure about doing it, but I sheepishly inquired about what they were going to do with them?
"Oh, those old things. They're trashed. Do you want them? Take them. I don't care. Gives me more space in my barn."
So I took them an RAN! They are so cute!

They were painted off white at some point, and underneath they are black. The white paint is chipping off showing the black underneath.
My mom and SIL says leave them "chippy" like that and go with it! It beats sanding them or striping them. And I don't really want black anyway.
So now they are dropping paint all over my kitchen and wherever I use them! I know I need to paint them with some kind of clear sealer, before all the paint chips off. But I have no idea what to use! Or, if I should just go ahead and take all the paint off anyway.
What think you farmgirls?

Very nice chairs, Hosanna. Whatever you decide to do with the set, you did yourself proud by bringing them home! ;) Way to go, farmgirl!

To make it easier you can also do one of two things
On the first pop that Connie speaks of you can go down to the bottom of that popup and choose it. (I can't remember what it says, but if you choose the bottom one, it will take you directly to the get link code, instead of having to click on that tab. (takes one step out) Also you don't have to click or unclick anything in there, just put your mouse in the box with the code you want and copy it. The radio buttons clicked or unclicked won't effect this.
The other thing you can do.......is when clicking on that first pop up, the next pop up that comes up (sorry can't seem to get it back on my photo bucket), choose something to the effect that you want the codes to be permenantly under the pics.
Then you don't have to be clicking on all those pop ups at all! (that is new, they didn't have those pop ups before, and I can't stand them!)
Then under every picture will be 4 codes, just put your mouse in the IMG one and copy that one, that's the one you need for this message board. No having to go through all the pop up stuff! Saves a ton of time!

I learned from trail and error with photobucket what to do and which code to use and I just posted a pic this way in the stitching room of a scarf & hat I made:
Here's what I do with photo bucket:
step 1: decide what pic you want, & right above the pic click on ‘share’.
Step 2: when all of the options come up, ignore all those options they give you for where you what to share it. Just click on ‘get link code’
Step 3: Several options will come up. NOTE: ‘HTML for websites & blogs’ will already be selected, unclick it.
Step 4: Go down to the ‘IMG for bulletin boards & forums’, and click in the box next to the first option under it….Full Size. (FYI - IMG stands for image)
Step 5: Copy and paste that code that is there for your picture into the forum.
Let us know when you get the pic up.

What a great chair. I would make a cushion and have different coverings for it for different seasons or partys or whatever. This way you get to use a lot of different fabrics that you didnt have a place for. My favorite is fabric with red cherries on it, and next ivy, and next a fabric with kittens, and next, watering cans, well, you get hte idea.

Before you do anything with the chairs, google "Wallace Nutting". If the chairs were old in the 50s, they might have more than creative recycling value. |

What you need to do is use the code with the bracket like this [ and not like this <. This < is a HTML coding and most message boards are UBB coding and need this one [.

I might suggest if you wish to keep that chipped look which is wonderful - I would take a chip of the paint to the hardware store- see if they can tell you what kind of paint it is and then find a sealent to just put over the paint to keep it from coming off. That way you keep the chippy look, don't have to pick paint out of your clothes and rugs and the look will not be effected.

I love those chairs--I suppose you should get all the paint off and repaint them or if the wood is nice maybe varnish. Endless possibilities. MB
