I saw this idea on one of my favorite sewing/crafting blogs, Wee Wonderfuls:

What a great way to re-purpose an old quilt, or just an excuse to piece your own with your favorite fabrics! I'm going to use some of my favorite depression-era floursack reproductions I've been hoarding for something special.

Here is a link to the project: http://www.weewonderfuls.com/2009/08/hex-top.html

Happy stitching,

-Heather

Really cute idea! Mary Beth I bet if you got some iron on web fusing and used it on the backside of your fabric it would look great. It makes the fabric stiffer and you don't need to finish the edges. You can just iron it directly onto your clothing and its finished. No sewing involved and I bet it would be great.

You can do the same idea w/ applique. Handstitched or machine, either way works fine. I did a big flower over a small hole, on my favorite fall time zip up hoodie. Super cute!

Man, despite his artistic pretensions, his sophistication, and his many accomplishments, owes his existence to a six inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.

My Mother who is 93 and still sewing and Knitting has been doing this for years. Specially if she has a small tear or a stain on a blouse or slacks and people are always asking her where she gets such great clothes. It works for her---now for me when I get creative and do something like that--it looks like a 2 yr. old lumped it on there. *Sigh* Oh well. MB

What a nice way to spruce up a blah shirt (or one with a stain lol)
