Oh my Gosh.
I just received an email from Singer.com
I had written to them with all the info i could write down, all the numbers that I could find on my sewing machine.
I had been given that machine a few weeks ago by my sweet neighbor H. SHE in turn had received it from a neighbor friend of hers. That lady has had it for eons, and can't sew anymore. My neighbor H. has a "newer" machine so this one was in her garage until those 2 weeks ago. Now it is mine to use and enjoy.
I just was curious as to how old it would be, I thought maybe 40 years??

NOPE!!!!!!!! 50 then?? NOPE!!!!!!60? NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess what!!!!!!!!
They say tt was manufactured between:
drumroll:

JANUARY 1908 and DECEMBER 1909 !!!!

SO that WOULD make it 100 years old!!

I can't believe it ( and I don't to be honest:) ), it is electric! But it is nice to see, lol, and to dream of owning a 100 yr old machine :)

And it works like a charm, purrs like a kitten!!

How COOL is that! It's probably worth a lot more money than you realize too...but liking to sew on it is most important.
Happy for you!

Wow! I didn't realize elecricity was so prevalent during those years. Although, the Titanic set sail in 1912 and I believe it had electricity aboard, so maybe sewing machines did too. What a great treasure!

Good for you Marian! What a wonderful gift. I have a couple older singers and a new one as well. I just love Singers. Of course the treadle just sits there begging to be used. Unfortunately I don't know how to. I need to find a local to teach me the ropes.

You will have to show us a picture of your first project on your new darling when you are done.
