Posted - Jul 24 2009 : 9:33:48 PM I hope it has not been cancelled. I have to admit that I would be very unhappy. I understand that there were a few ladies who have been late getting their pins in, and some have dropped out altogether. At this point, I personally think it would be best to just divide up what pins have been sent in, and get them sent to those of us who did manage to hold up our end of the swap.

Posted - Jun 29 2009 : 08:16:22 AM Hi Jess, How's it going? Fine here. Summer is a busy time. Do you know we never did get our chicks this spring. With the wedding and all we haven't had time to do much. I know this is off topic but the wedding is over and I was wondering if you knew if it is to late to get chicks now? thanks.

Posted - Jun 19 2009 : 11:37:23 AM Hey Jess, I just happened over this way today after having the flu for a week! Blah! Anyhoo...I did want to make sure mine made it safe and sound to you and thank you for doing this, this was my first clothespin swap and I had alot of fun making mine - they're alittle silly looking but heh, they work and they're bright and cheery! If anyone who had to drop out would like a hand making some so they can still receive them send me an email...I know more than I'd like to know some days that life really happens! This week hasn't been as bad as some but just this week alone I've had the flu, knock out can't move flu and had to work and then went out to feed one morning and found all 8 of my new chicks were brutally attacked - that alone put me down for acouple more days when I thought those little chicks were going to keep us going all winter with eggs, now what do I do? Start over...sorry, venting...I haven't vented over my lil chicks yet. Anyhow, the invitation is open to anyone who'd like me to help out with their clothespins...just send me an email!

Posted - Jun 16 2009 : 07:57:25 AM Jess, I think you summed everything up perfectly! Thankyou. I love my farmgirls and have also made some really good friends. I have also been caught in the "life happens". But to me this whole forum is supposed to be about farmgirls caring about other farmgirls. I know it's frustrating to have to wait on something, but until you walk a while in someone else's shoes please don't judge them. When there is crabby remarks made all that does is hurt feelings and make people feel even more guilty than they already do. No one knows what's happening on the other side of the computer. So instead of being mean spirited about clothespins or aprons or whatever it may be, how about we stop and wonder what could possibly be going on with our fellow farmgirls that could be holding them up with their swaps. And be caring enough to take the time to find out before making them feel "two inches" tall for being late.

Posted - Jun 16 2009 : 06:52:31 AM Ok girls. I hope you all are enjoying your summer. Just to let all of you know, our dear Ruth was able to get her pins in. They came in last week, just in time for my 6 yr old son to break his collar bone, while planting cucumbers of all things. So, now that I believe all the pins that are coming in, are in, I will sort them all out and get them all back to you. With 5 days until the end of spring, you may get them just in the knick of time. I am not on a lot lately, I will post when they all go into the mail.
I see a bit of unrest on the forum pages, not only this thread but many others. I am so sorry to see this. I have been on here swapping, bartering and trading for about 3 years. In the past everyone has been happy to step up for those who have unfortunate life events happening. I know many of us have made quilts for those with shocking challenges and terminal diseases. I know many have jumped in for others and made their sets of quilt blocks, yo yos, dolls, soaps, aprons, washcloths, clothespins, christmas ornaments, small seasonal items and yes even the ever popular mini aprons and probably other items I am not aware of. Lots of girls chalk their reason for not finishing their swap up on time due to "life." Not everyone wants to go into detail publicly about what "life" really means. We have a very broad spectrum of girls on this forum. Everything from babies, to livestock, to crops, to children with life threatening illnesses, to divorce, to deaths of parents, husbands and children and other issues that to many are sudden and life altering have been reasons for "life happening". Most girls pull up their boot straps and get through, drop out of swaps, or just send in late. Yes, we all deal with "life" in different ways. We must all remember that we can never understand another person's life without walking a mile in their shoes. I have always found this board to be a friendly place with understanding people. I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like inside each one of your homes. I am sure some people have had great successes and great struggles. As for myself, if I see someone that I think may be struggling, I send a personal email. I ask them how it is going and usually always get a response. It is at this point where I have made up swaps for so many others to help them get through their "life" happening. I have traveled great distances to meet dozens of girls I have met on this board, I have made life long friends. I know it is frustrating when you rush to get your swap done and in, only to find out that someone else in the swap or even the swap hostess has things that have come up to cause the swap to not go out on time. I have even on a few occaissions spent the money and over-nighted my swaps, only to have them sit and wait. Patience. In the case of the Valentine clothespin swap it was a combo of one other board member who has struggled with an enormous set of issues with her young child for the last few years, and myself. I knew if the swap ran late I would not be able to get to it right away. I also understand that the life of my family does not depend on these items arriving. I have never felt like someone was not getting their swap item in or holding something up just to be mean or mean spirited, everyone tries hard to do their best in making nice things for swapping, offering up good advice to others in sewing and crafting tips, gardening, health and family raising advice. Those things to me embody the farmgirl spirit. As the swap hostess of this swap and about 20 others in the past, I apologize to you for ever sending out late or being late myself in the literally dozens of swaps I have taken part in. I know this does not help everyone who is frustrated about a late swap, but I really wanted to let everyone know that no one that I have met on this board is malicious in swapping, life really does happen.
I hope you all have a great week and I hope to report your pins flying off to see you all soon!
Hugs and Smiles to you all, Jess

Posted - Jun 02 2009 : 06:58:08 AM I'm Out too, Due to the move, I just unpacked my computer and have it up and running, sorry I have been away for a while, I have enjoyed the clothespin swap, and am still patiently waiting on my Valentine ones to arrive, sent the completed set along with return postage, and no pins, I don't feel I should send another set out until I get my others. Sorry to hear all the "crabby" remarks on this subject. |

Posted - May 31 2009 : 5:54:59 PM Oh I think it bothers a lot of people, but if you comment you get hit with the "life happens", as though life isn't happening to all of us. I think some of us just just handle "life happening" better.

Posted - May 31 2009 : 5:19:09 PM Kathy, You are not alone. I choose my swaps carefully and with the clothespins I feel like I can use them no matter when they show up. I rarely do swaps though because of the lateness of some but most girls it doesn't seem to bother.
