All right all you apron girls...
DD (aka craft diva almost 12 going on 40) and I are taking a fabric dyeing class at a nearby quilting shop. The teacher is the lady that taught my first quilt class - she's heard so much about said child, that I'm sure she'll be thrilled to have her in class. Anyway, I digress (what else is new, right? LOL)...
We have been forewarned to wear clothes we don't mind getting stained. No problem. But, I'd really like to add one more layer of protection. My thought is aprons made from old vinyl table cloths we have sitting here in the basement. Sure one will have snowmen on it, and the other one funky looking turkeys, but who cares?! Has anyone ever attempted this? Also, did you use a pattern (if so which one)? If so, hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.
This will only be my second and third regular size apron (did 16 minis for a swap), and the first one came out HUGE, so any help here for a novice apronier would be helpful.

Should work fine for aprons. Find a pattern that uses bias edging that continues around as the ties, for ease of sewing. experiment with your stitch length (usually longer) and tension (a touch looser). Also, if you haven't worked with bias before, remember that it is folded off center so that one side of the fold is a little bit wider--that should be on the back side of your material so when you stitch from the top side the bias on the back is for sure caught in the stitches.
