When I was a kid my mom used to make knitted slippers out of phentex yarn. I'll describe it as best I can. From about the ball of the foot back was horizontal knit stitch and then from the ball of the foot was garter stich. The toe was pulled together (same idea as a drawstring) but was rounded not pointed. Top of slipper was sewn from the toe area to the ankle to leave a hole big enough to slip your foot into. I think she may have done these up on four double pointed needles. I've seen them at craft sales but can't find a pattern so not sure if there is a pattern. I've tried to duplicate but can't seem to get it right.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Get some of that shelf liner you can find at dollar stores etc. and cut to fit. There is a slipper fabric called Jiffy Grip made specifically for that.http://www.save-on-crafts.com/jifgripbrnon.html

I made a pair yesterday afternoon and they turned out exactly how I remember them. I used a soft bulky yarn and put them on immediately. Now I'm trying to figure out what to put on the bottoms because they are slippery on my wood floors. I want to use something I have rather than have to buy something but haven't figured out what yet.

I made some slippers like you talk about for Christmas and love the pattern. The yarn I used was bulky, I think, so they work up fairly quickly. If you still need another pattern let me know and I could send you mine.
