I thought this had to be done on a burlap material. But I saw on a site someplace that she was using what looked like a piece of musulin, and it was a finer stitch.Looks like something I would like to do.

I'm just getting started with punch needle too. My sweet friend in Kansas bought me the needles to get me started. You do have to use weaver's cloth. You can get it at Joann's.

Nancy- are you talking about the punch needle has different settings and it makes like a small loop in the material? If it is you will want to use WEAVERS CLOTH. I have tried muslin and haven't had good results. It is very fun to do and I have made many projects- I have lost my puch needles to my daughter and my cousins son that are now working on projects. Remember to use a spring tension hoop and keep your fabric very snug in your hoop and the punching will be much more uniform and it will go very fast. Good luck and enjoy!
