I've seen Green Pepper at my local JoAnn's. Haven't tried them though. I do have one of their "hunting" vest patterns that I had intended to make up for my son for airsoft. He got the real deal from his Uncle who is in the Army. Has anyone ever tried Park Bench Patterns. Even Vogue patterns go on sale at Joann's Fabrics - just sign up for their flyer and you will get notification - I think they go down to about $4.

The Simplicity patterns that I like the most are "New LOOk" ones. Cutest dresses IMO.

Vogue has some simple ones (I think they are called Very Easy Vogue), but you can almost always get the same garment pattern from either McCall's or Butterick (they are all made by the same company), and the M's and B's go on sale. Vogue very rarely does. Sorry, I'm just exceptionally frugal, especially these days.
I think I will look up the Green Pepper patterns online - I've heard of them before, and now I'm curious...

Just my two cents...
I had over 1000 patterns when we moved and got rid of almost all of them except for my Kwik-Sew ones. I've found they are the most reliable for good fit, the end results were always exceptional, and I like the fact that almost all sizes are included in one envelop. The patterns are real paper instead of tissue which makes re-using (and copying) them easier and their instructions are clear with good diagrams. I also find that their pricing is fair.
Although perhaps not the best choice for a beginning sewer, Green Pepper patterns were always reliable as well. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if Green Pepper still makes patterns?

Ann, I agree with you, the Vogue patterns are very stylish and pretty looking, but they seem pretty difficult. I picked up a Simplicity dress pattern that I think I will try out. It looks pretty. :)

Chelsey - what kind of clothes do you like to wear??
I have been sewing Amy Butler patterns and Favorite Things patterns this last year and really like them both. I think you are just starting aren't you? The favorite things patterns might be a good place to start, they are very easy with not many steps but you get a really cute finished product. They have a website with all their patterns on it. Sew Mama Sew is a good website for looking at patterns too - they carry a bunch of different pattern companies.
I have had a hard time following "conventional" patterns when I was more of a beginning seamstress just because I wasn't so familiar with pattern terminology. Oh and for vintage/ethnic, Folkwear patterns are pretty cool

Personally, I'm a McCall's and Butterick girl. Simplicity is fine for simple things, but I've found that for garments, I get the best fit, and also the best instructions, from either McCall's or Butterick. Vogue has very cool, current fashions, but some of them are really tricky. I also have to admit, that sometimes the decision for brand of pattern is based on what's on sale, too LOL!
