What is everyone working on these days? Anyone concentrating on one specific project right now? I'd love to see pics even if its not done yet. :) I have a surprise project I am working on right now. I will have to show it when I am done or elses the person whose getting it would see it ahead of time..lol

I am with you Jessie - the way I manage to crazy quilt is when you have the leftovers from other projects do not do what I once upon a time did - get our the ruler and square up the scraps and place them neatly in clear boxes by size - Yes, I am very weird. Instead I would put them into a box just the way they are - then when I sit at the machine I reach into the box, not looking at grab a piece, sew it onto the last piece and away I go. This also helps if you do not let yourself think too much. Once you have the size you want I dig out my stitching books and randomly open to a page and use that stitch - keep repeating this process until the work is done. Sometimes when I catch myself being to in the box - I put it down and give it and me some space and time. Sometimes we have to learn to just play and not be so controlled - This is coming from the biggest control freak out there.

lol. Grace, you seem like you are a busy farmgirl. Good for you..After all the idle mind is the devil's playground. I never really mind having projects waiting to do because it means that I am not letting life completely pass me by..lol.
I would love to see a pic of your crazy quilt blanket. I still can't figure out how to do the cazy quilt stuff. Im too much of a"follow the pattern" person. My box has no outsides so I don't dare to think out of it..LOL

I hate to admit to folks how many projects I have going at one time but since we are all confessing.
I finished the special order of seacell fiber that I spun for a customer.
I have almost finished the two dozen Lavender filled Lost Lambs that I make for my shops.
I have started cutting into some vintage fabric I purchased over the holidays to make some aprons (also from some vintage patterns I treated myself too for Christmas)
I have two crocheted capelets going out of handspun designer yarn I finished spinning on Christmas day.
Last but not least I have been dyeing fiber like a mad lady so I can get them carded up for my customers.

I am not going to mention the beading project that has been sitting there for three months, or the half painted cabinet for the shop display, or the wool blanket that I have been crazy quilting for the past year - No I will not mention those

hehe...Have you ever noticed, well at least for me, we work on so many projects but not very many stay at home. :) Im always working on something or other and unless Tori decides its something she wants or hubby says I cant give it away. I inevitably send it off for a gift or something along those lines.:)

I always have at least one embroidery project going...my christmas tablecloth and a tea towel right now, and have been working on some socks that I love...with some nice sock yarn (Sockotta) from a farmgirl sock exchange a couple years back....nice to work on something from my stash..AND they are for me this time. Nice grey/brown/tan colorway. I have been knitting more than anything lately.

I'm still new at this and unfamiliar with posting pictures so I have included my blog....

http://melodynotes-melodynotes.blogspot.com

The quilt I have in my frame was purchased from a lady in Minnesota who counsels sexually abused children. She makes quilt tops and sells them on E-Bay. The last time she listed I bought three and this is the one I am giving to my daughter Hannah.

I was in process of knitting our babe a sweater, but with my hands acting up the way they've been, my knitting is on the backburner. I'm lucky I can type at work! I think after she's born, I'll be able to actually pick it up again--good thing I decided to make the 9-12 mos. size :)

Hi Melissa,
What kinds of shirts are you ripping up for your rag rug? I was thinking tshirts, but I didn't think you could make rugs out of those?

awesome. Id love to see pics of some of your embroidery projects Lorraine. :) I am a big embroidery buff...hehe! Of course, I like doing it, but with the toddles, it takes me a bit to finish anything. I just got Jack Dempsey's nursery quilt squares in the mail. Its a BIG project, so I want to finish up all the ones I have so I can concentrate on just that for a while. :)

Wow - you all have provided some inspiration today!!
I have currently - an apron overlay (Amy Butler pattern), an Emmeline apron, and a pair of mittens that I am finishing up.
Also a knitting bag for my DIL and some knitted snowmen.
My goal this year is to finish UFO's and to utilize all the patterns I have before I obtain any new ones - we shall see:)

Wow! You girls are putting me to shame..lol. I put everything into one basket to see what I had to do and then have been going through one project at a time to get it done and get it outta here if that's where it's headed.lol.
I just finished my first project and now onto pillowcases for the Valentines Swap.
I keep getting sidetracked though because I am exploring the new world of dolly making and found a pattern I love. Once you find a pattern it never hurts to make a ton of them..lol. :) So its kinda like....project I need to do..dolly...project I need to do...dolly...LOL!:)
And as Ann says somewhere in there is dishes and laundry. Who sleeps?! lol

I always seem to be working on a bunch, too...
Tea cozies - 1 for swap, 1 for barter, and possibly a third for another barter (on agenda today to get mailed on Saturday)
Clothespins for winter swap (also on the agenda today-painting-and tomorrow-decorating- to get mailed on Saturday)
Mini Aprons for winter swap (tomorrow to get mailed on Saturday)
2 crocheted dolls - 1 for swap, 1 for our little girl we sponsor in Bolivia (next week)
Crafted Valentine swap items - can't say what they are - don't want to ruin the surprise (finishing up over the rest of this week to mail on Saturday)
Recipe cards - just finished one set for swap last night, and am doing a few more this am for a friend
Frilly Dilly Bag
Afghan for hubby's bday in March
As soon as my quilted bedspreads arrive from my aunt and a lady at church, I'll have covers to make for the pet carriers for our little bunnies

Somewhere in there are dishes and laundry and homeschool, oh yeah and sleep.

My pillowcases for the pillowcase swap, embroidery squares for a quilt I'm trying to make for my daughter, some Easter samplers I want to get embroidered, recipes thrown in there to get out for the recipe swap, recipes and recipe binder to finish for my step-brother and his new wife and who know what else! It's overflowing to say the least.

Jennifer, I don't dare list all of the projects I am working on! I think it would take up a whole page!

Than you for the compliments on the yarn! It's a 2-ply merino and Jessie, I think some of the shine may have been the flash!

Hmmm, I always have several things going at once. Just give me some library books on CD, some handwork and a few hours and I am one happy camper.

- a pair of lacy knit wool socks for myself in black, which means I can only work on them in the day, ha
- 21 homemeade valentines for the valentine exchange & a few extra for family and friends, plus the home made envelopes
- two pairs of jeans turned into aprons only needing hand finishing
- 32 mini aprons for the winter swap
- redwork embridered pillow
- embroidered tea towels in retro dancing cookware pattern for me (I made scads for Christmas presents)
- my beloved LL Bean wool pea coat, since the dry cleaners broke 3 of the buttons (grrrr...)

And I just ordered some clearance Amy Butler fabric to make cubby-hole curtains for my laundry room and will make a new sink skirt from it too.

Monica, I am in awe of your spinning.
