I am casting on 25 stitches to do a 6 inch rectangle of seed stitch, however, it keeps ending up as a 1 x 1 rib. I begin with a knit, and end with a purl, then it would SEEM that I begin with a purl and end with a knit on the wrong side row, but...3-4 rows in, it's 1 x 1 rib.

Help!

Thanks, Libbie...it does make sense--I'm trying to remember my "stitches wearing scarves" and "not wearing scarves", but I think the problem I'm having is that the yarn is very fine (width) and I'm having trouble seeing the stitches

Hi, -Violet! So, when you do the second row, and those thereafter, look at the stitches and knit the purls and purl the knits. So, when you do that last "purl" on the first row and turn your work to start the second, you'll see that the purl looks like a knit on the back, and so you'll purl it. Does that make sense?

XOXO, Libbie
