Our UFO event (Santa's last minute workshop) at church tonight was cancelled due to weather, and since I promised I would post a virtual UFO-along here when the time came...

A post on Freecycle this week inspired me to make some stashbuster baby blankets. The lady is looking for blankets for her own baby - we are about to have the temp here nosedive again, and I couldn't let that baby be cold when I cold make something. I guess it's a Mom thing...

Anyway, I finished the baby afghan this afternoon - it is 3 shades of red, perfect for Christmas. I am also making a thin quilt of flannel from barters and freecycle, and backing it with cotton baby fabric I had originally purchased for my best friend's baby's quilt this spring. I was going to layer it and all that, but then I remembered that my kids' favorite quilt when they were small was the one that my grandma's cousin made. It's just a crazy quilt with a fabric back - no batting, no quilting, nuthin!

I also have a Special Olympics scarf to finish, and more Knit One, Save One baby hats. I am also doing a special gift for my sister Janice (the one we've all been praying for). In honor of her first successful venture to the bathroom, her friend brought her a roll of TP for a gift. I am making the special roll a Santa TP cover. I'm even hoping to squeeze in a few dishcloths between now and Christmas eve for my other sister, my aunt, and my sister's MIL.

Anyone besides me out there working on a UFO tonight, and what's your project?

I just got 2 more necklaces done :) I am using the wire you sent me Ann . I may have to quit for the night to give my eyes a break. I finished the "fred Claus" movie. At least the ending was alot better than the first of the movie . I was beginning to wonder.

It gave me that "no room at the inn" kind of feeling. Well, now that mama has some custom made swaddling clothes! I dropped them off today and got to meet her for a brief minute - she seemed very grateful. She couldn't have been more than 19 or 20.

That is sad no one else replied :( You would think this time of year --with the cold and snow --mcuh less the christmas season --that people would be more caring. :(

Did I tell you that I was the only one who replied to her post on Freecycle? It made me kind of sad...

those are beautiful!! So sweet of you to make them for her baby!! It makes one feel all nice inside to help another like that. I have been running errands and cleaning house mostly today. I did get another necklace done up. I tried to watch the dvd "fred claus" this afternoon.I have watched 2/3 of it so far. I am just having a hard time getting into it. Not my ususal xmas movie. I may just put my old flintstone and scooby doo xmas cartoons on and watch them tonight

Photos of UFO projects - these are all stashaholic projects as well...
Here is the flannel for the baby quilt you can see the cut strips waiting to be sewn, the sewn strips waiting to be cut into blocks, as well as the first set of cut blocks:

Finished quilt top:

I backed it with one of our old flannel fitted sheets, which is a light denim blue.

Baby afghan:

I used 3 strands of 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarn, one each of 3 different shades of red. It is my usual "dishcloth" pattern afghan, done with size 50 needles.

Yesterday, finished the red baby afghan and the flannel patch quilt. This morning finished a flannel baby throw. All three were stashaholic projects. Today it will be onto the smaller projects.

Still working on my scrappy quilts and a brazillian embroidery wreath, wont be done before Christmas but they are for me any way so it 's ok. Found still more fabric scraps, so I may never get my stash down to reasonable proportions. But I think tomorrow I will declare myself snowed in and spend the day sewing...sounds nice.
