It has to be simple for me to do it. I forgot about this until this morning. I did this a few years ago when I saw it on TV.
Take a reg. pullover sweatshirt, you know with the round neck. Lay it flat and cut right up the middle of the front of it. Now you have a JACKET. Then you can trim those cut seams with any find of trim or stitch. Do the cuffs too. I made one this morning with an old white sweatshirt. My practice one. I didn't take a picture, but I can if you want me to. So get out those sweatshirts that you don't wear and make them into little fun jackets. The ones I use have a rather straight bottom or flat bottom, you know not gathered puffy. Oh yea that makes since. The decorating of these with buttons, ribbons, rickrack, etc, whatever you can think of would be fun.

Would love to see the pictures Miss Nancy
I made one of those several years ago.
I made some binding to go down the front
( I don't think that is the name of it; but dang I can't remember what you call it Ha)
and made button holes and sewed on buttons.
I had some cute fabric with bears and hearts on them
some with little squares and cut them out
Did some satin stitch around the squares.
I added a collar with some trim that match the other things I did
I decorated a valentines sweat shirt too.
I think I sorta went over board on that one though Lol
I must of gave them to the Good Will,
I don't know what happened to them.Ha

Nancy a few years ago, I decorated quite a few of my old sweat shirts, took off the ribbing, cut them up the front, used the wrong side as the outside, appliqued felted wool...(old skirts, jackets and washed and felted them) made Santas, snowman, hearts, etc and appliqued them on the sweaters. I also took ribbing off of sleeves and hemmed them and did the blanket stitch.
Also put pockets on. I got many compliments. You can go crazy and come up with some very cute jackets.

The people who make a difference in your life are NOT the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones who care.
