A special apron for Christmas??
Do you wear a apron evrey day??
I have a bib apron I wear when I am cooking
I need to make Mother-in-law one
It is the year I usually make her one.
I make one about every other year.

Connie are you sure we are not long lost sisters?? Last year I caught my apron on fire because I forgot I had lite the candles on the coffee table while having company and no one even noticed that I had caught my corner in the candle. Oh well, you know me and the Funny Farm - really you might have to move here!!
I think if we both made a fire retardent one we would be safe this winter - I am with you what a pain (in more ways then one) to sew on the floor. If you got me down on my hands and knees you would have to leave me there for the winter.
Hope all is going well with you and yours - you are always in my thoughts. The goat girls have kept me hopping but I am always wondering what you are up too.

becasue i have to spend so much timme in bed i rarely get dressed in anything other than a houserobe, my problem with that is that i melt them against the wood stove where i do my dishes (no running water in winter!) do you think if i made a long aprom that it would help keep the robes from getting melted??? i wil have to make it totally by hand because of nowhere to set up the sewing machine (sitting on the floor using knee or hand for pedal control is a pain!)

Yall know something funny
I wear the aprons with the large bib.
And still get a mess on me
Thank goodness I don't have to work out in the farm yard
I can just imgaine how I would look Lol
We will be into cows when we get into our farm house in the country which will be soon
I am not sure about the apron yet for Mother-in-law
I can't seem to get into sewing lately
I have more de-cluttering and getting rid of things.
Really not much room to sew in with everthing piled up.
Yalls aprons sound so pretty
Even the ones worn when working outdoors
My dad's Mom always wore an apron out doors while attending chores.
She fed chickens.
Did garden work etc.
Both Grandmothers wore aprons.
Mom however never did wear one that I can rmember expect at Christmas time maybe
Mom is always so neat with eveything she does; however.
I can't cook without making a mess.
My dad's mom use to say
"If you don't get some on you ; it ain't going be good!!"
Mine must be pretty good ; because I am usually a mess . Lol Sheila

Thanks Richere for the suggestions - My oldest is a semi-professional ice climber and mountain bike racer - the peddling kind. My youngest is also a photographer and bike racer - peddling kind. I wished I could find a bike fabricn - anyone out there know of a place? I did cut one out in a hot chiles on black background. I was thinking of adding also some black over gloves with a band of the hot chiles. I am putting them all together with a basket of hot sauces and bbq sauces made locally. I had been thinking of maybe screen printing one for my youngest with film strip looking pattern, but I just do not have the timen right now before Christmas. Has anyone seen some fabric that has to do with photography???

I have dunked my ties allso.For guys apron there is a nice fishing print or at joannes fabic in house fabric section some nice checks and even a chef print ect.Add an extra pocet for cell phone or other electric gadgets..good luck. |

I always wear an apron, without which, my clothes would be trashed....I wear a apron that covers my front, back, top and bottom...it is mid calf length, as are my dresses.....

I have 3 special halloween ones --one form bonne and one from bee heaven --and one i made that i like the best.:) Then i have 2 denim ones i made form a pair of bib overalls that i use for outside work and when I am working on messy stuff.

OMG, I've got over a dozen that I've saved and given out a couple dozen more. All kinds all sizes.
Over on the "apron sewalong" thread, which started out as sharing the aprons we were sewing, it morphed into
a close knit group of friends. All starting with a shared interest in sewing aprons!

chickabella when I started here I had one and in the first month I just shredded it. I have been thinking of making another one or six - would love to see what you come up with - I have been thinking of using oil cloth but in all the decades of sewing I have never used this material... Any advice out there if this is a good, bad or just a waste of time idea????

I'm fixing to make a full farm apron for use while cleaning the pens and feeding the animals. I always end up with muck and yuck all over my clothes...

With age comes brains - now I either make aprons without ties or make them so long that I can wrap them around to the front - DRY TIES!!
I have been known to get all the way into town and into a store and find I still have the apron on.
When my boys where little I made them aprons and chiefs hats - they loved wearing them as we cooked together. Now that they are all grown up they still love to cook and are hoping I will make them grown up men apron..... Any thoughts?

Oh Grace...I have to really be careful with the ties too..I have done it COUNTLESS times.
I wear my aprons all the time when I am hope. I hang it on a hook if I go to town..well, not a real hook..the handle of my wheat grinder actually. It is for sure a habit with me. I always wear full aprons about to my knee..in the 1940's style.

I am finishing up my new Christmas apron - it has a sweet doe that I have embroidery on it from one of the etsy artists. My son's fiancee has made me two so far - she is learning to sew. Last years apron got ripped when I forgot to take it off when checking on the goats. I have also been known to fall asleep with my apron on - around here it is just one more piece of my daily dressing, just like my long johns...
I recently purchased some vintage apron patterns and have been trying to decide on what fabric to use in my huge statsh. So many aprons - so little time. Keep those ties out of the toilet - sorry for saying that, but is it just me who has done that one???

I wear aprons almost every day. 2 are full aprons and 3 are half aprons. I made my 2 sisters aprons and their husbands (BBQ type) and one for my daughter for christmas. My gramma always wore an apron. I love them. & have saved many clothes by covering up!

I have a Christmas apron. It has a blue snowy background with gingerbread mean on it. Mom made it for me last year for a Christmas party. It is one piece full apron. Very comfy! My dd has one exactly like it only smaller..hehe

I have a few aprons. One is a full front and the others are half. My favorite is the one I got at a country fair just a few months ago. The denim one. I love it. I wear it a lot. I need to make a Christmas apron and some for my granddaughters, too. They love to cook and help out in kitchen.

the only time i wear an apron is for thanksgiving and christmas and i have one i made that i just love. when i made it i was workign for hancock fabrics and we had to make an apron to wear for "christmas in july" the patterrn fabric and lace i made it out of was sold out in just a couple of days! i really should wear an apron more especially since i am usually in my houserobe and i burn/melt it on the wood stove all the time! i would need to make a loose fitting, long one for it to work. peace connie in alaska |

I have alot of aprons..but a couple are favorites for sure. I don't have a special Christmas apron. I should make one!! Or barter for one! I do wear an apron every single day. Unless I have my overalls on (for milking and other outside chores) I have an apron on.
