If you had materials that you weren't going to use and you gave them away, that's GREAT! And, because you hit the bottom of your stash, it's ok to buy what you need going forward to fill in the gaps (check out the stashaholics guidelines on the stashaholics anonymous thread). And, as long as you keep to your habits of using up before buying new, you're good to go!

oh dear, I just had to have some 1830's fabric and I promised not to buy new until I'd used up all my scraps..SO I found a loop hole and gave away ALL my scraps, a huge garbage bag full to a beginning quilter. That sort of makes it ok to buy more.. I still have a huge stash but its all uncut pieces...

Lost track of how long I've been fasting...vowed last year not to start a new project,or buy more fabric until I used up all my scraps...so far I've done 3 king size quilts and have 2 started and still theres fabric pieces all over. I am the new self proclaimed Queen of the Scrappy Quilt!! Before we retired 6 yrs ago, I had shopped for all the possibilities I could find on clearance racks and sales. so came here with a travel trailer full of goods, havent needed to shop since, just do it anyway cause its so much fun/

OK, confession time...
I realized this morning that I neither made your 30 day ribbons nor mailed them this weekend either. OOPS! Started them today (on my new toy, I might add), and will mail them out tomorrow on my weekly trip to the PO.

I didn't mean to make you cry, girl! But I think I know what you mean. It's always easier to "hunker down" when you've got someone to hunker down with, right?

OK, I read it and I cried! I needed some cheery news today - thank you!

All of my stashaholic sisters rock too! This was just another one of my "crazy ideas" when I had to face the reality of spending less $$$. I talked to my one sister (Nancy) one day on the phone about going on a craft-fast because I have too much stuff and not enough $$$, and she told me about how, on her scrapbook site that she goes to, there's a whole group of girls doing scrapfasts - no paper, etc, just adhesives, and some of them have gone 6 months or more! I thought it would be neat to post it here just to try it, and boy oh boy have we taken off!

I'm just glad it has been a success, and that we've all had so much fun doing it!

Jami, if you had no stash to use, then it was ok to buy new for a current project (maybe I should write that into the guidelines?). So email me your address and I will send you your button! You betcha, hands up in the air! WOO HOO!

Way to go Judith! I think I still have your address - let me check.

I will work on them this week and will mail them on Saturday.

What was the 30-day mark Ann? I "sigh" did visit the fabric store yesterday and purchased the fabric for a polarfleece pullover for a Christmas gift but that was Dec 1st so if 11/30/2008 was the 30-day mark, I'm clear (hands up in the air like I just roped a calf).

I actually felt a teensy bit bad about purchasing the fabric but there was no stash to fit the bill on this one.
