Posted - Nov 25 2008 : 2:14:19 PM My girlfriends grandmother died a few weeks ago and my gf wants to give family members ornaments for their tree's, made from grandma's costume, vintage earrings. She's completely clueless as to what to do, and I'm sadly pulling blanks right now as well. Any idea's or inspirations would be so greatly appreciated! Paige

Posted - Nov 26 2008 : 08:35:18 AM You could do small wreaths out of the jewelry pieces.. maybe 2 inches wide to hang on the tree. Or use wire to make "balls" out of them. I can think of lots of things iin my head... but hard to explain.

Posted - Nov 26 2008 : 07:16:25 AM We had two of those tree pictures. My husbands grandmother made them out of old costume jewelry in the 60's. She even put light on them. They were the most hideous things I had ever seen. I took all the old jewelry off, kept the frames, and use the jewelry for crafts. Try checking on eBay. I've seen some of the most beautiful wreaths and ornaments made out of the vintage jewelry. Sorry I'm not much more help.

Posted - Nov 26 2008 : 06:24:04 AM You could do the starfoam ball thing, and use old clothes of grandma's, where you cover the ball in fabric (grandma's clothes). Then at the bottom of the ball attach a earring to dangle down.

Posted - Nov 25 2008 : 6:18:28 PM Paige, I have seen people make Christmas Trees in a frame out of pieces of jewelry! They lay them out on fabric covered board and hot glue them in place! Your friend might be able to do shadow boxes in the shape of a tree! Hope it helps!
