After reading Mary Janes book, I headed off to the fabric store. Well I made a pattern from left over wrapping paper and while trying to keep the cats off my material and pattern, I cut it upside down. All I can do is laugh. My husband said "Maybe your just not in the right frame of mind to make an apron today" Wish me luck on my new apron.

I love the idea of making an apron out of a tablecloth. So neat.

Alright, you apron girls finally got me!!! LOL I'm making one for my sister for her birthday... She hosts Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as our annual family Christmas cookie bake. I looked up a bunch of free patterns online, and realized I have all that I needed in my stash! Some Christmas fabric I bartered for with Katie Ell, some red that I can't remember why I bought it. Anyway, will post photos when done.

I love the idea of doing it out of a tablecloth - the fabric is usually a heavier, sturdier weight and a great way to use the one that had gravy/coffee/wine stains all over it.

I had to practice some photo posting so here is a picture of my very first apron..It turned out so good I made two, one for daughter & one for a sister for Christmas, I used a thriftstore purchased tablecloth, & vintaged buttons taken from my grandma's button tin.

ditto, I too have to laugh, as you are not alone to cut out fabric upside down, but it is fun to laugh at ourselves...so if you want just cut out a ton of circles to stitch yoyos from the upside down cut of fabric.
When life gives you lemons... add a little vodka and make a lemondrop Martini!!! lol!

Oh JoAnn, I am laughing with you because I can not tell you how many times I have cut two of the same arms or the same thing you have done. All you can do is laugh and use think of something else to do with the boo boo. How about pot holders?

I like the way Christina would do it, make it a reversible one! Good luck and enjoy! I made my first apron last week and I like it, lol.

I am planning to make more, some to sell and some to give in swaps and as gifts.
Post a pic when it is ready!!

Oh JoAnn things like that happen. If it were me I would just go out and get enough coordinating fabric to make another one of the same apron and then sew the two together to make it reversible.
