i have a duffle bag full of sheets waiting to be made into a rug. that i pick up at the "transfer mall" where there are always way to many to bring them all home!

That's how I was taught to make a "beggar's rug" as my Gram called them. You just made strips of cloth from worn out cotton clothes - same width and length. I have the wood hook my Grandda made her - it's a little past what a K hook would be. Then you just crochet a circle, making "normal" increases. You have to watch your tension so it lays flat. As I don't snow as often anymore, I don't have cotton material to use. BUT, when the mood strikes me, I'll buy a few yards that compliment each other and stitch away. I know there are patterns online. I wouldn't pay for one though.

An old boyfriend of mine, many years ago, made me a wonderful rsg rug, he carved a big wooden crochet hook and just usedn strips of cloth. It was quite nice...
