Posted - Oct 08 2008 : 7:52:09 PM That's how I was taught to make a "beggar's rug" as my Gram called them. You just made strips of cloth from worn out cotton clothes - same width and length. I have the wood hook my Grandda made her - it's a little past what a K hook would be. Then you just crochet a circle, making "normal" increases. You have to watch your tension so it lays flat. As I don't snow as often anymore, I don't have cotton material to use. BUT, when the mood strikes me, I'll buy a few yards that compliment each other and stitch away. I know there are patterns online. I wouldn't pay for one though.
