Posted - Sep 15 2008 : 04:46:04 AM There are so many cute fixins out there...anyone have a nice harvest recipe. And where do you get those cute mini pumpkins that I often see in them. I just bought a bag and it was $6. Not too bad but I would rather try it myself...How do they make the wax molds of the little shapes and things?

Posted - Sep 15 2008 : 10:12:21 AM Diana..I just learned something new!...I never realized the little tiny pumpkins were called putka pods! Thanks for the info!
Jenn....After Diana mentioned that there were several sources I took a look. A place called Traditions in Thyme ~ Primitive Autumn, has a bag of 300 for $7.95. That sounded like a good price to me! I might order some too!

Posted - Sep 15 2008 : 10:00:07 AM Jenn, those 'mini pumpkins' are actually putka pods. If you google them there's several sources online to purchase them.

Posted - Sep 15 2008 : 07:55:53 AM Hi Jenn, it's been a really long time since I made potpourri... a realllly long time (I was a young teenage girl). I used to use all natural stuff and smells (I didn't have the money then to buy the essential oils). I remember my mom gave me some dried pieces of vanilla bean (I think she got it at a health food store) I would use that a lot and I would dry little fall-colored leaves, marigolds, and zinias. I would also collect little things from the woods like funky sticks and roots and fir-cones or alder-cones, and even unused snail shells, dried up mushrooms, and moss. It was really fun actually I'm going to have to get back into it. Sorry I can't help you with your other questions I would have to stick with the natural smells even now since most of the artificial scents give me terrible headaches.
