I received a nice surprise on my computer today. A quilt I entered in the Country Living exhibit for this year's Houston International Quilt Show has been accepted. This is my favorite quilt, so I'm very pleased someone else likes it as well.

I took a machine quilting class once years ago and the foot pedal on my old Bernina blew up! I get very stressed out and crippled up when I try machine quilting, so I find hand quilting very soothing. That owl quilt was something I did two Februarys ago. In the winter here you need some color and originally I was just going to make a little owl banner, but it grew and grew. Thank you all so much for your kind comments.

Karin,

I love this quilt and you are an inspiration. I too quilt and I just haven't entered anything in a competition. You're handquilting is great. I've really gotten into machine quilting-used to do alot of hand quilting so I really appreciate your accomplishment! Congrats and way to go.

That is absolutely beautiful, Karin! The hand quilting is a work of art...and the design! Did you design the piece yourself? Congratulations! That's an honor you really deserve!

What a wonderful piece of folk art! So interesting -- what was your design process? How large is it? It is so striking, and so enhanced by all the detailed handquilting. Wow. So great!

Bonne, thank you for the dancing WOOHOO, it really made me laugh.

Ronna, this quilt is like four feet by four and a half, so really it's a big wall hanging or a tiny quilt, depending on your point of view....

Thak you all for taking a peek and for your kind words...
