I was blown away the other day when I went to my local Bernina dealer to get a walking foot to finish my grandson's quilt only to find out it was $150.00!!!! I have an older Bernina 930 and have seen many foots (?) on e-bay but the numbers are all different, some are copies and when I called two other dealers they also gave me two different numbers. Do any of you have this model number and a walking foot for it that you could give me the number on it. Or does any one have one that they are not using that you would want to barter or sell?. Maybe loan out for a week or two? Grandson will be here in two weeks and need to get this quilt done. Thanks for your help.

Betty, from what I've heard about the Bernina 930's, they are fantastic machines. Those puppies sell on Ebay for $1,500 all the time. I think once you find the walking foot for it you'll be in hog heaven. Try sewitsforsale Yahoo group. That is a very active group and there are tons of sewing supplies and machines and accessories for sale daily. I can't keep up with it all.

Craigslist is a good idea also!

Never thought of Craigslist will try that. Jami my girlfriend has a Viking also loves it. I had a hard time deciding between the two when I bought mine. When she was helping with the quilt she told me to go and get the walking foot and when I called her to tell her how much she was in shock first then laughed. Should have bought a viking!!!! She was surprised to at how much. Guess it's the price we pay when we own these machines. Wish I would have bought it when I bought the machine. Thanks ladies for all your help.

Betty,
Have you put out a request on your local freecycle/craigslist/etc sites? someone local might have one they're not using.

I have a Viking, Betty and had to purchase a brand name walking foot as nothing else fit mine. It was $89 and I do love that puppy but it sure was an "ouch" on my wallet. Good luck finding one to fit your girl. I have seen generic walking feet in Nancy's notions catalog for much much less. They have different ones for different shank heights but have a number to call for help ordering. Look up Nancy's Notions online and see if you can find one.

The universal ones work OK but I would rather have an original part. I have bought a few of the copies in other feet and they don't stay on the shaft very well. Ended up giving them away. There is one that the gentleman said he would refund my money if it did not work up to my liking. Seems the machine I have has a special size shaft and the original is better. I know it a steep price for an attachment. But then again I did drop a lot of money for this machine 25 years ago and it has been through a ton of fabric including fixing our camper canvas, boat covers, and leathers. So in the long run the money is well spent. Just having a hard time pulling the money out of my wallet.

Betty Jo, There are some on ebay that are 43.00 buy it now items. It says they are not bernina brand, but universal and it lists your machine as one it fits. I saw the bernina walking foot online for 159.99!! Ouch!! Hope this helps!

You can't use a universal walking foot? I have one of those for my Brother sewing machine and it works great. That's a lot of money for an attachment...WOW!
