VALENTINE'S DAY QUILT BLOCK SWAP!

I will be taking names for people interested in swapping 6" finished size) VALENTINE'S DAY QUILT Blocks.

****I think Liz, who is doing the Brown and Pink Block Exchange, did a wonderful job detailing the guidelines for a swap, so I hope she won't mind me using her guidelines, but with the information replaced to reflect THE VALENTINE DAY QUILT EXCHANGE. Thank you Liz!

This will be a centralized swap. You mail your blocks to me and I swap them out
and mail them back to you. Guidelines will be STRICTLY adhered to so please read
and understand them before you sign up for this swap. Any questions, email me at yorkriverkennels@yahoo.com BEFORE you sign up. I will answer you as promptly as I can. Please keep in mind that I do work full time so it might be a day or so before I can get back with you.

GUIDELINES:

1. Block size: 6 ½" unfinished . This will give you a 6" finished block when they are sewn together.

2. Block Pattern: You may use any block pattern that reflects the theme of Valentine's Day. - Let me know your choice of
block when you sign up for this swap so we can get a good variety for our quilts. No 4-patch blocks will be accepted. There
will be no duplicate blocks so please send your choices early to insure you get what you want. I'll post a list at the bottom of the guidelines periodically so everyone knows which blocks are already picked. Email your choices to me BEFORE you start sewing to make sure your block(s) are still available.

3. Method: Use any method you prefer - machine pieced, paper pieced, appliqué,hand pieced, etc. All appliqué must be sewn down (no fusible).

4. Fabric: Any shades of pink, red and white or a combination of those colors. It is ok if there are tiny flecks of other colors if they aren't dominant.
Background will be white or white on white.
Only 100% good quality, cotton, quilting fabrics will be accepted. The use of flannel, corduroy, see-though, or otherwise non-traditional fabrics will be returned unswapped.

5. Number of Blocks: To be determined once the sign-up deadline is over. We will make one block for each person who has signed up so you can get a head start on your blocks, once you know your pattern has been approved. I will keep a current list of the numbers who sign up until the end of our deadline. IF A LARGE GROUP OF QUILTERS WOULD LIKE TO SWAP (AND THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL), WE'LL BREAK THE SWAP INTO GROUPS OF 10 AND YOU CAN LET ME KNOW HOW MANY GROUPS YOU'D LIKE TO EXCHANGE WITH. I'LL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON THE NUMBERS.

6. Sign Up: Email me at yorkriverkennels@yahoo.com with your name, address and email, the block pattern you would like to sew, and whether or not you would like your blocks to be signed with fabric pen on the front of the block. There will be no duplicates of block patterns. If the block you choosen has already been spoken for, you will be asked to choose another. The earlier you sign up, the better your choices of blocks will be.
Email me for a list of blocks already chosen and I will be posting a list of blocks spoken for as they come in.

7. Deadline: Sign-up deadline will be December 7th, 2005 . All blocks sent must be in my house by January 1st, 2006. Blocks will be swapped out on or before January 7th, 2005. Any late blocks will be returned unswapped.

8. Mailing Instructions:

a. Label each block with your name and email address. You may baste your label or use a small sticker. If you use a sticker, place it on the back ONLY so no residue is left on the front of the block. Please do NOT use pins of any kind. ****PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE THE BLOCKS YOU RECEIVE TO BE PERSONALLY LABELED ON THE FRONT WITH QUILTER'S INK BY THE QUILTER, WITH THE QUILTER'S NAME, DATE AND TOWN/STATE OR COUNTRY. Before everyone sends their blocks to me, we will know how many are requesting this personalized labeling, so you can sign your blocks.

b. Place your blocks in a ziplock-type bag and label the bag with your name, mailing address, and email address. It is important to include your mailing address so your blocks can be returned to you in case the outer envelope is damaged in the mail. Believe me, this does happen! Tyvek envelopes are the best.

c. Enclose a self addressed STAMPED paper-sized extra large envelope with two stamps.

d. I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged swap packages. If this is a concern, please add the appropriate postage for insurance and include a note in your package informing me of this.

e. I will send each signed-up swapper my address.

9. Hostess Rights: As hostess, I have the right to return any blocks that do not
meet the above guidelines, ie, incorrect size, poor construction, poor quality fabrics, etc. and I do honor this policy. Take your time with construction so you don't have blocks returned to you, no one wants to spend time and money on a swap to receive unusable blocks in return. I know these quilts will be beautiful!!

Thank you so much for considering to participate!!
