Hey girls, back from the edge. Had an ulcer, didn't know that, took some ibuprofen for another problem and set off the bleeding on a massive scale.

I had a friend drive me to the local ER, I felt like an extra in one of those cheesy crime dramas, where the car screeches to a halt and the door is flung open and a body is thrown from the car....

I was taken right to the Icu, given lots of blood, and I don't relly remember too jmmuch until evening when I suddenly started to crash, that was so scary, and then I was strapped onto something, put in a heicopter and whisked off toa a much larger hospital.. When I heard them saying that I'd had 6 bags of blood, I said I had only had two I thought, bu t they had to give me four more on the ride up. Anyway, they cauterized the ulcer and so the bleeding finally stopped.

So that is my adventure of teetering on the edge, glad to finally be home, where I suspect i will be the gold metal winner for sofa slug for the next few weeks.

I read all your kind posts aand good thoughts ofr me, thank you, it was very sweet...
I'll regale you with exciting hospital roomate stories when I can function a little better....

Hey Karin, We have to find the laugh in all the craziness and undpredicatable with the Fibro. Pain is such a rotten part of it. So yes, we are joining the couch brigade, except I am a bad couch potato!!!!! I straightened a little of the living room, I had to go check on dd's rabbits, they are camping. That was my adventure for the day. So the brigade is back in the saddle again, oooppps I mean couch.

Hey Clare, glad to see you.

Karin, that must have been so scary. Thank God you called a friend and also thank God the hospital knew enough to airlift you out to a bigger facility. You are truly blessed by God to endure and live through all of that. Losing all that blood is not a laughing matter. However, you show your grace with humor. God bless you more and more each day. hugs from here. I'm so glad you are OK and back to emailing with us.

Carol Sue, I really laughed when I saw your post yesterday on the apron thread about being in the couch brigade, I think maybe we deserve a medal, perhaps a canning lid, proclaiming us as members of the couch brigade. I've never been much of a joiner, but I like the sound of that one.
It is almost three in the morning, but sleep eludes me tonight, my fibromyalgia is on a rampage, and sleep is out of thw question. My eyes aren't focusing well enough to read a book, but thanks to the button that says view text larger I can spend some time meandering through the posts, always a soothing activity to me...

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Unfortunately by some stroke of fate, I managed to take a real whoopster of a fall and smashed my tailbone a couple nights ago, so now I'm really whining on a major level. Apparently it doesn't matter how much padding you have, I thought I was pretty well covered, but WOW, that hurts. So now I really am a member of the couch patrol. I got a wonderful book in the mail today from one of the farmgirls, and tomorrow my plan is to just read and sleep.
The sun has been out for several days in a row, and that is such a blessing. It finally feels like real summer, just when I can barely stagger around. Ah well, in a couple weeks I'm sure I'll feel better and get up to my usual hijinks....

It is so good to hear that you got help fast and taken was well taken care of. This was very serious. I am guilty of popping a pill for aches and pains with out thinking of the results. Your experience is a word of caution to all of us. Be careful and make sure to check before taking anything especially if you have a health condition or taking other prescription drugs. Rest and keep you couch your best friend. Get better soon.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. I guess this was my wake up call for sure. When I start talking to the sofa, I'll give it a name. It is going to be awhile before I have any energy, but I am so glad to be here....I spent this morning looking at old crocheted hotpads on eBay, I'm just downloading pictures, much cheaper! Such fun to see all the loony items women made .

Ok, naptime, thanks again girls,,,,Karin

Karin! SO GLAD you are going to be okay! I had a similar experience with some anti-inflamatory drugs a doctor gave me once...NOT GOOD...Same scenario...started hemorraging right at work...not good and pretty embarassing to boot! WHEW...but thank goodness you're okay....I didn't have to have pints of blood like you though....that was a little too close for comfort in my book...u take care of yourself girlfriend! And enjoy....turn on QVC/HSN and shop from home...WHOOPS...I mean... read a good book. LOL! You're STILL in my prayers just in case!
