I want to make my dd a custom/special just for her fairie book this year for Christmas. Does anyone know where I can learn about fairies or find ideas for a book?

I could read her other books but I think she would get a little suspicious.

I bought a wooden dollhouse door from AC Moore and painted it, sprinkled it with glitter and it's now going in Carson's bedroom (attaching it on her wall by a shelf) as her Fairy Door. The Fairies will leave her small 'rewards' for doing good things...ie: cleaning her room, doing her homework, not whining.

I saw that book on amazon last night. Is it very easy to follow along with? My art skills seem to be very limited. I do well to draw stick people. But I have always wanted to learn.

I highly recommend the book How To Draw and Paint Fairies. http://www.amazon.com/Draw-Paint-Fairies-Step-Step/dp/0823023834/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217290449&sr=8-2 It has excellent step by step by step instructions. I've spent years in art school and I have this book in my personal library as a teaching resource.

Thank you Bonne. I applied for membership to the group, now to wait and see if I get accepted.

I think you can still join this group to access all the articles.
It's loaded with fairy info and I highly recommend it.
Email me if you can't get into it and I can send you some pertinant articles.

Last summer my daughter and I made a fairy book together with crayons and bits of nature we had collected on a few walks. It was so much fun, and is a treasure for both of us. It helped get a reluctant nature-girl out there and enjoying it. We drew our own pictures and made up our own stories to go with them. This year we made fairy tee-pees with sticks, and wove bits of flowers, grasses, berries and ferns together and even made a door from twisty willow. It dried up nicely and sits on my kitchen counter. My reluctant nature-girl is loosing some reluctance, and asked me the other day when we can make another fairy house. (Happy dance!) Of course, any time!

So, think of that as another option you both may enjoy. Define and create your own fairies and fairy tales, why not?

We make a difference.

there are lots of fairy books out these days, or look on the net, or the library, or book stores and get some ideas from there

I bought my grand daughters one a couple years back from Costco. It was done up as a grand mother passing down information on all she had seen of fairies while hicking in the woods, on daytrips with her family or even gardening in her backyard. She made it seems as though it was covering her whole life. It had postcard style drawings of the fairies she had seen. They love it!
