Have you all seen the latest MJF issue? As promised there are several free patterns, a couple for bloomers. I can't wait to blow up the one pattern and try their tying bloomers. They look so comfortable and nice for layering under skirts. It will probably have to wait a month or so uintil I am back by the big city and a Staples. Until then, I am going to make a few more aprons.

Stephanie, cute pattern! You're right, it's just like the cami/bloomer pattern in the Aug/Sept issue, speaking of which, I just bought a copy yesterday at Fred Meyer because figured my new subscription wasn't "active" yet....my subscription issue was in the mail when I got home from town. Guess I'll have to give the extra to a friend and see if we can add another farmgirl to the dogpile.

Okay, so now I have a blog. http://woolyinwashington.wordpress.com/

So obviously I don't sit that way when I wear them...Hope that helps.

It does help, Thanks!

I think I'm going to try making myself a pair off your blog...and avoid sitting man style

Clare, what a great looking apron! I love the fabric. I was trying
to put up a temporary clothesline today to hang up and photograph a few aprons, but that turned into a disaster...ah well, I'll try again tomorrow....

That Butterick pattern looks like you make shorts first and then a wrap around piece second. The ones in MJF are made to only wrap around. Reading the directions I had a hard time visualizing it, but I plan to try it out and see for myself. I think the photography i nthe MJF magazine is beautiful-natural, nature involved, real people.

I just got my issue on Saturday. I subscribed after picking up the last issue. My other subscription must have run out. I think each issue is better than the last one.

Karin, I just finished an apron today. My friend gave me two yards of Wizard of Oz fabric she located at a quilt store in Kansas when she went to see her daughter. It is the reversible apron pattern from Simple Sewing by Lotta Jansdotter. I will post picture when someone in my family Takes it for me.

Here's the thing....I bought some of these types of pants a few years ago at a boutique in Montreal (when I was much skinnier). I attempted to wear them home on the airplane because they were so comfortable, and found out the hard way that the side 'slits' fell open when I sat down exposing everything up to my 'undies'. Needless to say, it was a long flight home. Does anyone have this problem with these pants?

Betty, if you need or like more of a rise you can use a piece of paper to tape to top of pattern piece to increase it.

I am so looking forward to receiving my MJF magazine. I sent payment off early last week, so it probably should be any time. Can't wait. I like the Butterick pattern better. It seems to fit up around the waist. I haven't got the hang of those pants that are below the waist. My "love handles" show too much.

You really don't need a pattern for the tying bloomers. Check out this tutorial w/ loads of pics to see what I mean. http://laupre.wordpress.com/2008/06/29/easy-breezy-wrap-pants-tutorial/

then see my blog to see my farmgirl tie bloomers I made this weekend.
