We do have a Kinko's
but, every time I go there to ask for help about enlarging my patterns from the magazines;
the lady says they can't do it ; because they are making a profit from that
My Question is
Do they have a copier/ enlarger for my own use there?
You know, can I do it myself there?
I haven't done any thing like that before.
I would like to know as I have several patterns I would like to copy for embrodiery too.
Thanks Pinkroses (Sheila)

Thanks Betty and Stephanie, for all the great info. You've explained the process so well that now I'm motivated to get my own "No Frills Frilly Apron" pattern enlarged! (I love that pattern!)

I've heard that Staples also makes the pattern copies without any problems and quite reasonably.

Sheila, Office Depot has a plotter printer and will not give you the run around about enlarging a pattern from a magazine or book that plainly states "enlarge pattern %". Your pattern will print out on 36" wide paper and they do it for you.

Good Luck

Hi Betty - which Kinkos do you use? That one sounds like the one I'll visit.

I went to Kinkos a couple of weeks ago and asked the lady at the front desk to enlarge a pattern to 400% and she made a copy on the regular machine and took it over to the "blueprint" machine and enlarged it on a piece of 3' x 5' paper--all one piece. I think it cost me $1.87 or so. Could it be that: A. they don't have a blueprint machine or B. (and this is probably the case) they don't know how to do it?

Ask to see if there is someone else who can do it for it. I'm ready to get another pattern enlarged.

Hi Sheila,

If you could give us the name and phone number of the lady at Kinko's that told you that, we'll call her and explain that the Kinko's corporate headquarters has told us emphatically that it is okay for their employees to copy our patterns from our magazine.

We want to make sure she has the correct information so she doesn't disappoint and inconvenience others! Our toll-free number is 1-888-750-6004, 9 - 5 Pacific time.

Thank you so much,

~Sunny

Sometimes people are so dumb - or just don't want to bother with you. Doesn't it say right in the magazine that you should take it to the copy place and enlarge it? So it's not like you are violating their copyright or anything....I got some of the lightweight interfacing marked with 1 inch squares from JoAnn's and traced an apron pattern off onto that - kind of a pain but if you can't convince anyone to copy it, you could try that.

Thanks Stacy,
I went in there twice and the same lady said the same thing to me.
So, I didn't know if it was so or not
Sometimes; they just don't want to wait on people if it is not a big order I think, Ha

Hi Sheila,

That's crazy that they would refuse to do it! It's your magazine, you bought it, so you should be able to enlarge it if you want.

They should have copy machines available for customer use. Usually in all the Kinko's I've been in they're the machines up front. Last time I did it, I had to purchase a little copy card (like a credit card) that was charged with say, $5.00. You swipe it at the machine and it takes the money off the card as you make your copies.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
