Posted - May 18 2008 : 12:07:11 PM I made my first crocheted rag rug. I used a pretty big hook so it is nice and chunky and warm. :D

Posted - May 26 2008 : 7:27:35 PM Sheryl-lyn in the "MaryJane's Stitching Room" book she has a crochet primer that, with a little reading and patience, can teach you how to crochet. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I use double crochet, but here is a really fast video that shows the single crochet. http://www.hassdesign.com/CrochetStitchVideos/Single-Crochet/

Posted - May 26 2008 : 5:06:32 PM Does it matter that I don't know how to crochet? I think it looks easy with the big hooks, but I am nervous about it. Maybe while I am off this summer that would be a good part-time craft project.

Posted - May 25 2008 : 8:27:09 PM I made my other one, but now have to find the camera that has pictures on it. I LOVE how it turned out. White with dots of green and brown and gold in it. It was a flannel set that was mostly white with autumn leaves. I am so excited to start decorating a new at the new house!!

Posted - May 19 2008 : 06:23:29 AM They are so fast! I crocheted that one in about an hour after I got all the strips together. I have another sheet set that wore out- White flannel with autumn leaves. I think it is going to make a great rug because of the colors in it. I can't wait to see how it turns out!!

Posted - May 19 2008 : 05:13:22 AM Wow Nancy Jo! I never thought of ironing the rugs! Mine has curled edges a little bit. I had not even thought of ironing it! I am going to see if it helps. A good idea. The first one I made ended up looking more like a sombrero so I took it all apart and started over.

Posted - May 18 2008 : 12:21:44 PM Aww! thanks Heather! It was lots of fun and super easy! And if I ever decide I want it less chunky it will be pretty easy to unravel and re-crochet with a smaller hook, though I might have to fold some of the strips half as I think I tore them larger than needed. I think I tore them about 2 inches wide and they really only needed to be about one inch wide. I love it though. Nice and soft!
