Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 9:59:33 PM Does anyone know anything about electric knitters?? A man my husband works with, knowing I love to sew, gave my husband an electric knitter...I've looked online and they are around $1500. The man's mother in law is now in her mid 90's and can't use it anymore, so they were willing to give it away, as long as they knew someone would use it. So, now I have it...it's about the size of piano keyboard...it came with all of the instruction manuals, but it is still overwhelming!! Does anyone have any experience with one of these??
Thanks!!! Christy

Posted - Apr 17 2008 : 3:21:01 PM I used to have a knitting machine, looked similar to the one pictured, but it wasn't electric. You threaded it, then moved the shuttle back and forth over the board of needles - each pass was one row of knitting. It was purely mechanical though. You could make really elaborate designs with it, by using pattern cards and threading different colors onto different needles, but I decided I liked hand knitting best - more relaxing.

Posted - Apr 17 2008 : 3:01:54 PM It is a "Compuknit Knitking". I haven't put it all together yet...it's in a BUNCH of pieces...it looks VERY overwhelming. Here is a picture of it put together http://www.yarns-and.com/brother.htm
I was thinking it may be easier to knit by hand???? But, if anyone has any experience with one of these, maybe you can convince me how wonderful it will be!! :)

Posted - Apr 17 2008 : 07:33:06 AM I know there are web communities and sites dedicated to knitting machines & patterns. Do a little googling. I bought one of the cheapie ones ($100-150)~it frustrated me to no end so I shipped it to my more detail oriented sister. yes! post a pic!
