Ok, what is that old saying?,,,, "a gal can never have enough shoes or chocolate????" I beg to differ,,,, a gal can never have enough sewing machines & chocolate!!!!
Ok, so while over in the Hillyard area-Antique Row(it's all your fault Brenda-past blessings)
Hubby & I came across yet another vintage sewing machine...I posted a pic on my blog, so take a sneak over & a peek at it. The cabnet is out in my DH "Mancave" where he is stripping off the ugly faux paint job. Imagaine how delighted we were to find that the seat is Black Walnut and the cabinet is mahagony! I feel like I have struck gold! AAAnnnddd the machine works like a charm!
I either need to stop collecting sewing machines or else enlarge my house & charge admission to/for my Sewing machine museumm lol!

Great find, Grace . . . sorry to be the cause of your addiction LOL! Hillyard is a fun place to go! I managed to go back to Spencer's again since the last time we went and still found more treasures!

Hugs & blessings,

update on the cabinet, it is completey stripped and is now ready for staining/varnish.
DH has to ever so lightly router the top edge to smooth it out. We just need a warm day to do this,,,still have snow on the ground. Hopefully either tomorrow or this weekend it will be finished. Yippie.... I need to get out the oil & q-tips to clean the machine & get her in the game! sew sew sew....
I think some day this summer I will photograph all the vintage machines & do a photo collage (might do one on my mixers too,,,I have added 2 more, am now up to 10...)
I haven't added anymore resin/lucite grape clusters to my collection lately, they are getting popular and are now running in the $30 range so unless I come across them at a yard sale I think I will have to be very selective of the ones I buy.
Oh my, so many collections, so little money!!!hahaha!

Very cool. I only have 3 sewing machines. One is a turquoise all metal singer from my Great Aunt Oleta..when she was in her '80s she called me one day to ask if I would like it..cabinet and all. It works great..isn't my "go-to" machine..it is usually closed up..but I do love it. All my machines are singers in fact. I have a fancy one that my sis in law gave me when she upgraded. It has all kinds of stitches and embroidery stuff that I have never even used yet. And the one I use the most is a cheap basic singer that is about 3 years old. It cost around $120 new. If I had a nice place to set my sewing machine up (maybe someday, right??) I would sure have that turquoise one set up. Pretty fun.
Anyway....love your new one..great find for sure! That cabinet is so unique!!

I know,,,my dear sweet hubby made mention that my "addictions" are getting out of control, until the FEDEX truck pulled up today with yet another "must have tool" so now my hubby just sheepishly grins,,,, so I guess that means I can add another one to my collection soemday!
Karin, honest, I don't "plant" my kitties in the photos, it's funny, when I want to take a picture of them they all hide but when I am trying to photograph something they are very nosey & manage to get in the shot!lol! Maybe I should name them "Waldo" lol!

Grace, Those aprons are too cute, very nicely made. And your new sewing machine, that is really impressive. Nine machines. eh? You need to be able to sew on two at once, maybe you can get one of your kitties to sit on the foot pedal....I really enjoy your blog, and I always enjoy playing" spot the kitty" in your photos. Keep up the good work, girl!

OMG!!!! It's a Slant-o-Matic "Rocketeer"!!! What a fabulous find! The machine is superb (I've got one) and runs like an airplane taking off, but that cabinet is to die for!!!
