I have my craft room all set up not quite organized yet but here just the same. I have a section for sewing, mosaics, clay and a big area for scrapbooking. Any scrappers here??

Angie, I have not been a swap Mom before either but if you need any help just let me know. You could start the sign-ups here and see how many are interested.

CARD SWAP?
Would we like to do a card swap do you think? I don't want to hijack the topic so should I start a new one and go with it or just keep it here? I have never been a swap mom before!

Hey Emsmommy5, I missed your earlier question regarding the rolodex. (too busy trawling the rest of the forum )
I saw this in one of my scrapbooking magazines and then on splitcoaststampers. You make little scrapbook cards out of rolodex cards and actually showcase them on the rolodex 'holder' that they came in. (You can also just use the cards as a template and create your own from card-stock. Staples carries a very inexpensive punch that punches out the slots at the bottom of the cards) You do decorate the back side also because as you roll the dex (?) you see both sides. I just sort of 'match' the back to the front but also date stamp it. There are different types of rolodex but I bought the one that spins all the way around. You could not use all the cards that came with it but the finished product could be full of so many cards, some with tabs (which can also be all different) What I am doing is practising new techniques or using a new product to do the cards and not all (probably not many ) will have photos but maybe verses or sayings or just 'stuff'.
And, as I mentioned earlier, it is a good way to use up all the left-over bits from bigger projects and does not have to take forever to do.
Have fun!
Angie (BritChickNY)

I would love to have a crafty/sewing room. But I have found that I do better if I am at the kitchen table. I think it helps me keep an eye on everything going on at home. I don't have little kids anymore, but the teenagers are always roaming in and out and I am afraid if I were in a different room I would become a hermit and just live there!

I've been scrapping for over 5 years now. In my previous house I had my own scrapping room and it was wonderful. For 18 months after the move, all my scrapping stuff was in storage at my in-laws, but I got it out last month. No scrapping room, no closet -- nothing. I'm looking for something, but for now it's in boxes in the master beedroom.

I think five cards is doable with the option to join more 'groups' perhaps. I don't mind if we were to do just fronts or the whole card.
Let's see how many of us are interested and go from there? We would make 5+1 to keep though right?

(just so y'all know, Cheryl makes lovely cards )

Debi, Very good questions! I was thinking full cards 3x5 w/envelope and maybe groups of five. Giving the info on what you used is a great idea! Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I would as long as theres not 50 of us. Maybe you can make groups and if someone wants to alot of them could sign up for more groups. I have a question, is this the full card or just the front? some exchanges do just the front to same paper. they also write on the back what stampset, and the colors of paper, ink, etc if its a stamp company, like stampin up or the angel company, etc. I thought I would ask good to know this right off. Hope not being a pain.

Would anyone be interested in swaping handmade cards that would be due the end of May? Maybe a Spring theme?

Well, you need to decide what siaze they are going to be. I personally favor the have card stock but I do like the 1/4 card , I have seen darling recipes pages. They make great gifts. To start a chapter, contact Sunny at MJFarms. You might try a swap and see what kind of reply's you get. I don't think theres a special place for scrappers, but here is as good as any.

Cheryl, I do the Cricut. But each machine is different. Its just getting to know your machine like sewing machine, they all have their own little corks. Basically its learning the cardstock and what pressure, speed you cut it on, and all it is a flick of a dial.

I love to scrapbook. Half of my craft room is for scrapbooking/card making and the other half is for sewing. I have been making a lot of little paper bag books lately. Debi, I have had my eye the Cricut. How do you like it?

I love to scrapbook! Just got together with some friends last Saturday for an afternoon of eating and scrapbooking. We use the fellowship hall in a local church, everyone gets a table and brings a dish or two to pass and we just go at it. A lot of talking, eating, sharing pictures and ideas...it's so much fun.

AngiK-maybe we could start a scrapbooking topic and just keep it going. It could be a place to swap ideas, inspire and who knows what else!
I just finished another card for my rolodex. I am still working on having the patience to up-load pictures to photo-bucket and then to post here but since I have dialup...

I love to work wtih scrapbooking materials. But I must admit, I am much better at makin gstuff for other people than actually working on my OWN scrapbooks! I have all sorts of papers and such. I long for a room of my own, but it's not in the cards at the moment. So I have carved out two corners, one in the kitchen and one in the dining room. I love sharing ideas and would like to be in on this topic!

First of all, explain your rolodex idea again...... =)

I actually have many Fargo related items. My friends and family have taken it upon themselves to help me decorate. I also have just finished sketching a map from my hometown to Fargo above the door. I have an old postcard from the 50's, cups, sweatshirt, can cooler. I always look when I'm thrift shopping to see if I can find more. I love my studio except it does find it's self in a mess a lot since it seems to be my dumping ground at times.

Betty Jo, do you have a "Welcome to Fargo" sign over your door? How funny would that be and to be able to have groups over too, I would like to do that but am using our 'what would been' the spare bedroom, but you know,my teenager is awyay at college so his den in our basement is empty. Hmmm
I refer to my room as 'the pink room' because, well, lots of pink. I love to organize and there are so many creative ways to store all the necessities of being creative. That is part of the fun
Okay, so if I did this right, there should be quite a few faces in this!(thank-you Betty Jo, I have been replying to topic the 'wrong' way)

Just left click on the face you want and it inserts a code for the face when it is posted. I have a studio that my DH built for me when we built our house two years ago. I am first really setting it up now. But I have scrapbooking, sewing, die cutting, rug making and hopeful a few new fiber arts I'm looking at learning. I call my room Fargo. One day I was so frustrated that I yelled that I was running away to Fargo, Packing my car with everything I owned (not much I had 5 kids) and going to live a the Days Inn and work at George Web. I had no idea what was in Fargo I just want away. The kids got my DH (who I was just dating) to set up a room in the basement I could run too. When we built or new house he made sure I had my own place, door and all. It's even big enough to have a group over to craft.

Yep! me too! I have my craft room set up almost the way I want it! (I could just use another few hundred square feet!) No really, I am blessed to have a whole room to myself where I love to go and read my bible in the morning and scrap and stamp and sew later in the evenings. I go through fits and spurts with the scrap-booking though. I will work diligently on one album and then have to take a break from it and do something else (like stamping, sewing, crochet, knitting))
I like doing 12"x12" books but really enjoy smaller 'altered' type scrapping. Not quite so intimidating as a big album! I just bought a rolodex and am scrapping the cards on that. Great way to try new techniques and also to use up the little bits and pieces left over from other projects. I hope to eventually fill the rolodex and keep it on my desk at work for a bright spot in my little grey cubicle!
(Just not enough hours in the day!)
Happy Scrapping! (this is where I would insert one of the cute smiley faces if I could figure out how to do it!)
Angie.
