Hi Girls...
Evidently we have some confusion among our charm square exchange community...let's see if I can clear it up!
Our charm square is a 6" x 6" cut square of fabric.When you get your list, you will send 6 pieces of fabric cut the 6" x6" size in 6 different fabrics to each name on the list. We have also included 5 or so buttons to each person just for fun.That is the basis of the exchange.
What you do with these is your own preference. In the old days ladies did this to increase their fabric selection,& to have a piece of fabric as a memory of a dear friend or loved one.You can make a quilt of the 6" squares, cut them up, play with them, let the dog lay on them (mine is trying to right now). Personally I am going to sew the buttons on the squares and make a little quilt for my sewing room wall.
Cindy Lou has graciously offered to help keep the lists, so any New Joiners should email her at the farm, and tell her you want to join the charm exchange. charmsquares@maryjanesfarm.org

I am EXTREMELY hot natured and have been since the day I was born. My mother once told me that I was born dripping wet and just stayed that way! For that reason, summers...any summer anywhere..have always been rough for me to get through and I always feel like I shut down and die just a little. I don't mean that to sound so dramatic, but I really just about collapse by summer's end. But...BUT...the first cool breezes of a crisp crunchy autumn and I am born anew and the weariness falls from me and I frolic like a young girl again. I delight in every autumn magazine cover and every caramel-covered apple, the scent of mulled cider, the "drama queen" autumn leaves in all their glory...ah...I know it's just around the corner and that keeps me going! And I LOVE sitting on autumn nights, my 2 beloved mutts at my feet (or on them), a quilted throw about me, a pumpkin muffin and hot tea at my elbow, hand sewing on one of a multitude of projects or knitting..and I promise you won't find anyone more content!

Carol, I know how you feel! I am looking forward to the holidays more than ever this year! I picked up the Oct. issue of Country Living magazine and really loved seeing all the bright orange decorations and fall foliage used in autumn celebrations. The jack o lanterns and pumpkin ideas were fantastic! Seeing the colors in fabric is just as nice!

Great! In fact, if anybody in the next few hours would like to request a preference (choices are Halloween, autumnal, or Christmas), I'll do all I can to match you to what I've got! If I do end up inadvertently sending to someone who doesn't want it, please just toss it or pass it to some other stitcher! No offense intended..I just happen to enjoy holidays and I really need something cheery right now!

Carol, That sounds wonderful! I would not be offended at all! I will also try to get all mine cut and the buttons sewn on the card and sent out this weekend. Have a football game to attend tonight, but I plan on working on it late tonight.

I plan on getting mine cut out tonight and HOPE to get them in the mail tomorrow if I can sneak away from work. Would anyone be offended if I put in an extra square of holiday/seasonal material (i.e., Halloween, "autumnal", Christmas)? If so, let me know either here or by email and I'll do my utmost not to do that. Thanks.

Thanks Diane and Lucinda! I am thinking of designing a "farmgirl" quilt with the history of this fantastic connection of women. Something for my greatgreatgrandaughters to ponder and cherish!
