IS there any interest out there for a Spring and Flowers Quilt Block Swap? I was thinking of spring colors and/or flowers on your blocks? You know, those clear spring colors of daffofil yellow, tulip red, sky blue, hyacinth purple, grassy green with true white.

How about smaller blocks again, maybe 8 1/2" finished size or 10 1/2" finished size?

We could have a deadline of March 3oth.

Post if you are interested. Maybe we can get 12-15 gals out there. Let me know which size you prefer.

WE GOT 16 LADIES NOW!! THE SWAP IS FILLED AND CLOSED.

Ladies, I got my top put together at last. I found this great orange water/dot print that is an older Kaffe Fassett print. I love this group he did a few years back. A camping trip to NY specifically to go to a quilt store with 20,000 bolts of fabric had me hunting for the perfect print for this quilt top sashing. I think it is perfectly cheerful, exactly how I hoped it would look. I am planning to machine quilt it myself, in the ditch with small amounts of free motion in the blocks. I have a turqoise Kaffe Fassett dot print for the binding. Then, this will hang over my loveseat couch in our living area of the house. It will look better once it is quilted and the sun is not shining through it.

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my quilt top.
This was a gret swap. Just the right amount of swapper.
Just the right size block to swap!

I am doing a Jar block swap. I have room for one more if anyone is interested. I had one lady drop out. Life is busy. And sometimes we just don't have to sew.
If you want to join go to the Jar Block topic and let me know!

Jess, I tried to leave a message on your blog, but apparently I forgot my google password.

Anyway, the quilts you made for the preschool auction are beautiful. I don't know how you find the time to create so much. Are you like sunshine where you require very little sleep and are working after kiddies go to bed?

I love seeing your work. Your dress for renaissance fair is so cool!! And the felt pins are adorable. All I can say is "WOW", you are doing great things.

Kathy, you did a great job with your top! I love how quilting is an experience. I wasn't sure how to set my blocks from this swap, but I think the method you chose is very pretty. You are a talented quilter. And also, very fast!!!

Clare,
For my quilt top I started with 3 1/2 inch strips. Each block uses 2 strips. The first strip is the length of the block. I cut it on an angle giving me two lopsided triangles before sewing each on to either side. I take the next strip and cut that on an angle. Sew that to the top and bottom. I did the same the green fabric. I messed up a little but I guess it does not look too bad. When constructing I made the mistake of sewing the bias edge to the block. This caused my blocks to become to far out of proportion. (Slanted). When I attached the green fabric the blocks were so uneven I lost a lot of green when I squared them up. Learn by our mistakes! I should have used the straight edge of the strips. Oh well.
This was a nice swap. I like the spring flower idea.
This is definitely a wall hanging! The green matches my living room.

What a lovely quilt top, Kathy!! I have heard of using that method for getting a top together with blocks that may not all be perfectly the same size. For those interested, you put strips on each side of the block, sometimes they look triangular. Then, you place a square ruler of the size you want over the top, on an angle, and cut your new block. it looks like Kathy might have used two fabrics around her blocks before cutting them to size. IS this right, Kathy?

I love the green in there, really brings in the grass of spring. like flowers (blocks) blooming in spring. Great job. Now I feel like I need to get to mine. I started a star quilt while waiting for the last of the blocks, and am still working on it. This one will be next project.

I LOVE IT!!! It reminds me of a technique by Gwen Marston- in her book LIBERATED QUILTING. It is so happy and has real bounce to it!!!
How on earth can you offset the squares and then end up with it going together right???? It is a mystery to me.

I wanna copy yours

After I received word that I was in this swap I had purchased fabric for the sashing. I already had the fabric cut and ready to go. Well...Saturday evening after doing some yard work and doing my weekely shopping I headed to the basement. (my sewing room)
Today after dinner I finished. All I have to do it quilt it. What do you all think?
