I am hosting a contest to name my new dress form,
Winner gets a nice brand new sewn by me Edwardian apron.
Contest ends at the end of January. Enter in this thread not by email!

Posted - Jan 19 2008 : 8:02:52 PM How cool!! Valerie & Verdelia.
I am sure my granna is smiling proudly. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress & quilter!
I never met her but have always loved that name and the stories of her. I feel that her & I are very much alike. My mom always said "mother sure would have been proud of you". I have a bowtie quilt that she pieced and her and the "bee" ladies quilted hanging in my living room. One of my most prized possesions!!
She was a farmgal and kept a wonderful home. She canned, raised chickens, made soap, sewed. quilted and was a great cook. My mom also said that she would always help anyone that was in need. They lived by train tracks and poor men looking for work would sometime jump the train. Sometimes they would wander by there home and granna would always set them a plate of food on the porch. Mom said those bums would slop the animals and do chores for granna. Other folks would say they were bad or thiefs but not granna, they were just hungry. Boy I sure got off track, sorry.. Tasha I will email you tomorrow with the info, I will also send you a picture of Verdelia if you'd like. By the way, mom always said that her dad called her "Deely" but no one else did. So if you wanna sweet talk your model you might try it!!! LOL

Posted - Jan 12 2008 : 3:06:49 PM Just a note to let the ladies know that if you would like free memory boxes to remember your little ones you can request an individual (per child) box or one per family. This is part of what we do for hospitals and individuals. To check them out look on my Holiday Childrens blog as there is a slide show of some of them on there. Sorry for the losses and hope this form gets a good name! Pauline

Posted - Jan 12 2008 : 2:39:58 PM Tasha, I send you condolences. I, too, lost babies and am hoping and praying things go better for you this next go round.
As to the name for your dress form that I am entering into your contest, I played a word game and changed the letters around of "dress form" into "Mrs Serdof". I had at first tried to spell it backwards but was unhappy with that, because it spelled "Mr of Sserd" and a "Mr." your form is not. I am much happier with "MRS. SERDOF" and hope you like it too. Much Love, karen
