I just had to brag about my latest sewing project...actually this was one of the first projects I've actually completed since Abby was born ( and she's almost two so that tells you how long it's been :) I was somehow inspired to design and sew Abbys Flower girl dress that she will be weraing in my sisters wedding in April. I bought a pattern of a dress that had a similiar "bodice" design and used it as a guide , but really, I designed the whole thing myself. It turned out beautiful, now all I have left to do on it is the embellishing ( the FUN part!) I'll have to see about posting a picture of it later..Im so proud of how great it turned out. Anyone else sewing dresses or clothes this week???

ADORABLE!! WOW!! You ought to be so proud of yourself!! I am a seamstress..somewhat of a beginner and I LOVE LOVE LOVE to sew childrens' clothes and women's clothing too. It can be such a labor of love at times but I find it so fun and therapeutic. What a treasure you created!
Naomi, I would LOVE to see some of your work..heirloom quality?!! I'm blown away just thinking about it.. a sewing tutor?!! I'm in awe.. Please share with us.. I'm always looking for more inspiration!! Much love and happy regard, Julia Hayes

well, here is the dress! The bottom hem is just pinned up for now, to show how it will look once I "bubble" the hemline. Since the wedding is a "fairy theme" I plan on adding ribbons and things to the bodice, but I'll have to talk to Sara about what she prefers. Also, the dress looks kinda crooked in the picture but it's because it's on the hanger...It looks so cute on abby! I forgot to take a pictur eof the front but the front is basically the same as the back minus the zipper and sash : )

Oh how fun! Cant wait to see pictures!!

I just finished...
a million projects it seams(:P)...four dresses, a heirloom quality(according to my sewing tutor) baby outfit and a gourd...ugh...haha...
I made a civil war dress for my grandmother
fixed my moms civil war dress(pleated the skirt, remade the top)
a 50s dress for my grandmother
and a civil war dress for my little sister....
all in about two weeks...though most all in the past week. And lil sisters dress I completed in about 5 hours(though I was interupted a fair amount, so thats pretty generous) the day before I needed to do it...talk about procrastinating!
I'll be posting pictures soon myself...though I don't have the fun part of saying "I designed most of this myself!" this time around, just the "I completed all this in less then two weeks"...haha
have fun sewing!
cheers,

~Naomi~
