Posted - Dec 11 2007 : 12:54:26 PM Does anyone have one of those old treadle sewing machines? Funny how things happen! I posted earlier that I had bit my own bum ordering malphi's kits without having a sewing machine. But my mom may have saved it if I can find some missing parts. The leather strap and some bobbins. Any ideas or sources?

Posted - Dec 12 2007 : 3:14:54 PM Hey Bonne,
My Featherweight was supposed to be shipped today via UPS from Kansas so maybe I'll get it Monday or Tuesday..I know UPS is working late but don't know if they are making Saturday deliveries..had something delivered at 8pm the other night.
I'm keeping check on my local Craigslist but can't find anything related to sewing..kind of surprised me with all the quilters in this area.
Ebay has several of the Ivory colored and I also saw a Turquoise one! It was too cute. It's just hard to say how much some of them will sell for. I got a good deal on mine due to it having a lot attachments with it and the case latches both work and the case still has a key.

Posted - Dec 11 2007 : 2:39:11 PM Thanks All!
Aunt Jenny, Me too! My mom is so supportive of my decision to "take" back my life that I don't have to "wait for me to kick the bucket" (thanks for the cheery thought, Mom!) and she's tired of dusting it off. But I do have to go get it in North Carolina. It weights a ton too! I'll post notes when I get started!

Posted - Dec 11 2007 : 1:48:45 PM Have fun with your treadle machine. My mom has one for me (my Grandma's) that she said I can bring home (from cAlif) on my next trip out there...I am so excited. She had always told me that I would get it when she died! She is only 68 so I am excited to get it alot sooner!!! She dosn't actually use it..just as a side table!! So...I may be asking you for advice in a few months or so.I am not sure if it is missing anything. I just know it worked when my Grandma died in '92. Have fun!!

Posted - Dec 11 2007 : 1:21:48 PM I found a leather replacement strap for a sewing machine by simply calling around to the repair shops in my area. Surprisingly, more than one of them knew exactly what I meant and had them in stock. I guess there are still a lot of people out there using old school sewing machines. |

Posted - Dec 11 2007 : 1:03:43 PM There use to be a place in Tomah Wisconsin that carried tredle machine parts, it was called Yoders. might try and see if they have a website. Or even try tredle machine part in a search. Good Luck!
