What is the best way to sew a mitten together after you have finished knitting it? My seam up the side and around the thumb always feels a bit BUNKY.

Here's a free pattern for knitting mittens in the round - no seams!

well another way is to try and do an invisible stitch, if your good at weaving or sewing things up that is. This stitch can be hard to do! Here are some video's of some how to's http://knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/misc.php -towards the bottom of screen! Hope this helps Mary
I found this but its not real good: http://www.sweaterscapes.com/inv-seam.htm also a bunch of good tips and tricks and instructions on http://knittingpatterncentral.com

I have a mitten pattern I have been using for years, and there are several others in the book, but none of them say how to sew up the mitten, so I just sew it up with the yarn, But you can always feel that seam on the side of the mitten. So I was thinking maybe I was doing it wrong.

hmmm. Mattress stitch usually works for me for sewing seams, but I can see where it would be a problem in the thumb. Do you have a pattern for knitting mittens by knitting the thumb in the round on 4 needles?
