OK, girls, I've been looking at my old sewing desks - one is a treadle cabinet with no machine, the other is an old scarred-up demo table from a used sewing machine place that I got when I was young and had very little money, and I'm thinking, I have 4 machines, (serger, embroidery, combination, and sewing) and they really deserve better treatment than they are getting now. My sewing room is so unappealing I don't even like to spend time in there.
What kind of sewing cabinet or table do you use? I've been looking online at the Koala cabinets, anyone have one of these? Are there other, better or less pricey brands that are good quality?

Brenda-When is retirement?
We are getting close- but I promise you there is less time now!!!
How does that happen?
I have recently been decluttering and have found it very motivating and refreshing!
Only time will tell if I regret getting rid of things before retirement

There was a thread a little while ago of people posting pictures of their craft room, there were some creative solutions illustrated.
I had a book from the library called "organizing your craft space" it is well worth checking out through the library or just ordering because it breaks down your crafting by type, and by your personality (ie do you like rummaging or little drawers for every little thing?)

I purchased a 6' table last week at costco that has adjustable legs from children's height (tall coffee table) to desk height to counter height. I love this because I can set it up anywhere (it is incredibly light weight) and I can either sew at it or stand at it for cutting/laying out.
I think if you have multiple quality machines it makes sense to have the right working area and furniture to enjoy using them.

I'm determined not to. I have a BIG table in my craft room...if only I could find it right now! lol.

Tina Michelle, thanks for the suggestion, but some of us can paint, and some can't - and I'm in the second category. I always make a huge mess when I paint, and I'm never satisfied with the results.
Tina in Howard, I've thought about doing something like what you suggest, but my biggest problem will be what to do with the "stuff" that is in the room now while construction is going on, it is so crowded I can hardly turn around.
DH keeps telling me I need to get rid of some of it, and I probably should, but I'm saving it all for when I retire and have lots of time!
Tammy, you sound like me! Just don't let the temporary situation turn out permanent like I did!

Right now I use a store bought craft table that sits in my living room. My craft room has been overtaken by everything that I need to go through since we are using our "storage space" and putting in a new bathroom. I had it exactly how I wanted it and now it's a mess! I even have kilns and ceramic molds and haven't even started that yet!

Hi Brenda,
I had a corner sewing table once but it took up a lot of space and it had no storage. When I redid my sewing room/office/laundry area, I had an L-Shaped counter top made which is attached to one entire side of the room (it's a rectangular room) and I have two filing cabinets that I slid underneath the counter top. The top is about 4-5 feet long and holds my sewing machine, printer, and computer among other things. I also installed two shelves above the counter top to hold books, patterns, and material. It's a lot of work space for very little money and it looks great too. You can also take it down and out pretty easy if you wanted to. I have more storage under the counter top in two bins on wheels. Brenda..why don't you paint the tables in bright cheery colors? Something that speaks to you and suits your personality...and breathes new life into them. ..unless of course they are valuable..then that wouldn't be such a wisw thing to do..but if they are not very valuable and need sprucing up..paint certainly works wonders.
