Has anyone ever made a quilt top out of fade resistant type fabrics and used it as a curtain? I think it would look really pretty!

If you have a shade or blinds on the window, a quilt valance is really cute. Don't have quite the concerns about fading if they have some kind of shade underneath also.

That would work, things fade but your tastes change after awhile anyway. You can also get the darking stuff for your windows which helps it not fade fast. That is what is on my sewing room window.

My mom used to put us blankets for winter as insulating curtains.
What I was kindof thinking was making to matching quilt tops and then just sewing them together and hanging them. That way you won't see the stitching and both inside and outside can see your beautiful curtian without it getting too heavy.
What do you think?

Alee, yes I have used quilt tops as curtains, took them down this spring for a change. Did the quilt top, used a sheet for the backing and used an old wool blanket for the batting. It gets heat in and cold out. Will proably put them back up for winter or make new and different ones. It is fun to do. Holler if you have any questions.

Hey Alee--
They have something like it in the Plow and Hearth catalog. It's a quilt, but they use it as curtains. I'd think you'd definitely want to back it--it looks "heavy" to me, but then I like really flowy sheer fabrics on my windows, or none at all.

You could just line it to reduce the chances of fading.
