Ok, I went with wedgwood blue for the basket (a darker and a lighter for contrast). On the basket it self (the container part) I put white french knots as the criss crosses.

Now my question is, should I put them (the white french knots) at the criss crosses of the handle too?

Here's a pic to refresh, I will post when done-

Really great job! Wish I could embroider like that - but I'm in the early learning stages and doing not doing that great of a job. But with time and practice maybe I could do as good of a job as you are doing.

When it's all done, your in-laws are going to be so pleased with their gift - something that you worked long and hard on and with a lot of love.

Great job.

Peace and love.

Heather, I have looked through my patterns and Aunt Marthas online and haven't found your beautiulf basket of flowers yet. Is it a recent pattern purchase or have you had it for awhile. Is there any info on the envelope that could steer me in the right direction to search for it? Again, your work is beautiful! Thanks.Tracy

Thanks girls, I'm realling liking the french knots as well. And yup it's a Aunt Martha's. I love almost all the Aunt Martha's.

Sorry Stephanie, I don't have a blog of embroidery, hopefully some day! :)

Your embroidered pillow case is beautiful. When I saw the topic about embroidery I had to look! I love embroidery. I have most of Aunt Martha's patterns but I don't recall that one. I will check it out. I have recently stamped a set of pillowcases that I made out of linen and can't wait to get started. If I could just master emailing pictures I would send a photo of a set of pillowcases that I have finished. They are done in an Aunt Martha's pattern.

I thought I would real quickly show a updated pic
MagnoliaWhisper Posted - Aug 14 2007 : 07:43:37 AM
Thanks gals, I think I will do that.

As for the pattern it's a cheap one, it's from Aunt Martha's. I think I paid like 87 cents for it. lol :)

Hey gals! I agree with Janet, and she is one embroidering mama from what I can see (Janet I read your blog, it is top notch, and loved the "have needle and not afraid to use it" story)! The pillowcase is coming along so nicely; I may have to "borrow" this pattern; thanks for sharing it with us. Nance

I would, it looks like the handle would be made of the same basket material so i would put them on the handle also.
