I went into a fabric store on Saturday and couldn't find one thing I liked. I really looked and not one thing said "Make me into something beautiful." What is wrong with me?

Sometimes I think you just have to get outside of it and dig for a Michaels or AC Moore's to get other idea's..We have some of them in about thirty miles in either direction..some warehouse size outfits for crafting..and lots of yarn shops..thats why I will always be broke..lol

I have to say that I went to our Joanne's yesterday, a store I only get to a handful of times a year, and bought NO FABRIC. Nothing spoke to me either!

We have a Joann's just a bark away, so to speak, and I get nuts every time I go in there. I have to ground myself. I have bought, not just tons of yarn, but many containers as well. I finally had to give up a few to one of my daughters as I had them in the trunk of my car and I couldn't get anything else in there. This is my scrap booking daughter! She has her bedroom (1/2) covered with that and many closets, so she was thrilled to get more storage room, but her husband said something about "if you bring something you have to take something" because I always leave something and he has no space left. I just told him to "quit mumbling under his breath, it's not nice", lol..One of my other daughters makes racing graphics's for race cards and signs so she has a room secluded for that. All four of my natural daughters are talented so I have them blind to the fact that I am buried in projects....

I was just in Joanns and bought NO FABRIC as well. In fact, I did not even use my coupon at all. I don't know if it is the change i nseaons (waiting for fall stuff) or waht, but this happens to me. We have a small Joanns so not much to pick from.

however, most quilt stores bring a smile to my face. I enjoy the variety in there. We wil lbe getting a new one i ntown on August 1. yeah!!

I ahve been to quilt shops, though, where nothing said to me "I HAVE to have this. I just can't justify spending money unless I can't live without it."

Hey Sherone,

I went to Hancock Fabrics in Chattanooga yesterday and did the same thing! I walked out with a book and that was it.. Of course, I must say this Hancock's is lacking in a big way.. Joann's is 100 miles from me so I don't just jump in the car to go there!

Shopping online and at a huge fabric shop I discovered about 45 miles away is what I do most of the time...I just hadn't been in this Hancock's in a while and was hoping to see an improvement (not)!!

lol, I understand. I am a knitter and get that way with yarn. It gets to the point that I HAVE to go to the specialty shops to buy really nice yarn because nothing else will do. Humm..:)

Sounds like either lack of direction, burn out, or better yet, a reason to create something beautiful...But then again you may need to go to a different place and look at fresh patterns of materials..
