Hope this image came up. It is a slouchy bag/purse made from Cindy Taylor Oates pattern booklet "Slouchy Bags". I made it for my son to give to his swim instructor. She is 18, and she just graduated from high school. I think it's a fun bag, a little bigger than I expected, but nice. It has a brown print lining with one pocket and a magnetic clasp. DD is modeling for me.

Here is a link to see the pattern booklet and some of her others. I have made another bag from this booklet which already went to its new owner without a picture taken. I also made a tee from another booklet, "Sew Easy Shirt" . Also, the aprons I made for Jessica and Carrie is from Retro Aprons.

Of course Danielle loved the bag you are an awesome sewer and hopefully you turned her onto sewing. Your son has a wonderful mother and congrads to him on his underwater accomplishment. Hurray!!

OK, Miss Danielle LOVED the bag!! I am so glad. She just said it was "way cool" and I was a great sewer. She could hardly believe I made it. How's that for adoration? And my son was beaming with pride and happiness. Which, by the way, he FREELY goes underwater now. Hurray!! He made the break through to enjoying going underwater. next year, actual learning the strokes lessons. This year, they used the board and start with leg moves/kicking, floating on back, practicing are movements, etc. I am one happy mom, and Danielle DESERVES the purse.

Kathie, to ofunny about it looking like your husband did it AND THEN qualifying that he can't sew!! What a hoot!! I can't wait to tell mine about that.

By the way, my hubby would like to sew as he likes machines, but he doesn't want to do the cutting, pinning or pressing. One Christmas we made pillowcases for all the nieces and nephews, and he used the machine and serger while I pressed and pinned!! Now he thinks he can sew.

You can't really appreciate the fun print of the outside. It has a shimmer of gold around the outside of the bright flowers. And, the shades run from neutral with a kick (cream, brown, deep pink and red and deep purple in the center of the flower). Thanks for the nice compliments. Check out the link for Cindy Taylor Oates bags listed above.

I also like the book from "Bag Boutique" from indigo junction.

here is the link. You can check out cool bags on their page for purses and totes.

I have one pattern from Amy Butler, but I have not tried it yet. It feels good to make a purse/bag for yourself or others. It's a great personal statement without taking up a lot of time or fabric.
