These are some skirts I made for a friends daughter this spring. NG chose the fabric herself and I was given license to design. Everybody was pleased with the results.
At the same time NG's favorite dress was getting too short, so I made it into this great country girl skirt with plenty of lenth.
Ok, so it works here...why won't blogspot take them? HMMMMMMMMMM Maybe I should give that another try. If I every get this crazy blog up and running I'll invite all you girls over!

As for the swim dresses, they shouldn't require an actual pattern (after making the first one I was actual embarassed that I bought a pattern for something so simple). Even with just a little sewing experience, a similar pattern shouldn't be hard to make. Draft your own or just use a fitted sports type top (self lined) and "v" the bottom edge before adding a skirt. Use a regular legging pattern for the bottoms.

Hi Trina,
I had a look at your blog - love the name! I have been looking at the modest swimwear site and debating whether it was worth getting a pattern (it is quite expensive to send to Oz). So you think the swimwear patterns are fairly easy? I do sew a lot, but I've never made swimwear before. I just got some patterns from Candle on the Hill and they are great. Mainly I just buy vintage patterns that seem suitable, or make up something myself.
All the best of luck with the sewing - everything you make is so great, I'm sure you will have no problem! And keep your spirits up - we are all thinking of you.

Yes, NG is tall and thin. The skirts are also ankle lenth.
Take a look at the bottom pic, it is a pair of Wrangler brand jeans with the skirt of a dress attached. I just love that look! I have a pair of jeans and skirt of my own I want to make up like that (the zipper came out of the skirt). When I went thrifting the other day, I bought a few mini skirts to use as tops for longer country style skirts. They will be eaiser to put together than ones with jean tops and will still have that cute look.

That little girl must be tall and skinny! :) I was looking at the waist as compared to the hanger! Wow! :)
I love your skirts. I saw some skirts in walmart where it looked like they had taken the tops of jeans and then made a skirt for the bottom- Have you seen those? I bet you could repurpose jeans that have too many holes in them.

Yes, I am working on getting a business going right now. I have started a blog to show off some of my work and am going to open an etsy store friday or saterday. I am doing custom sewing now and again, but would like to do more.

They look fabulous! I love making skirts and these are just too sweet. Are you still planning on doing the sewing for a business? I sure hope it works out for you. I am so glad I learned to sew - I think it is one of the most useful skills you can have.

Thanks for all the compliments girls. Basicaly I just winged these. I used NG's measurements to draw out a basic A-line pattern and went from there adding this and that. The tiered one was made drindle style with a smaller piece up top to avoid too much bulk around her little waistline. Each skirt took only about an hour to cut out and sew, with an additional 15-20 minutes to hand hem (I added extra lenth in the hem line so they can be let down for play skirts next year). Her mama paid me $17 each.
