Has everyone been working on their pinkeeps for the contest? I have been working on so many and just don't feel any of them are contest quality yet.

I have posted one on my blog that I like, but, would like to redo it in velvet and opalescent fabric. I haven't yet attached the oyster to the silver shell, so may redo this one. What do you think? I have a few others in the works.

Be sure to check out the fabulous pinkeeps in the contest gallery....they are brilliant!!!!

Know what you mean. My sleep patterns are much better than when I was going through the change. Horrible sleep problems then. I think I'm up at night because I did almost 20 years of hospital night duty and my body just prefers to be up at night. Quite a struggle at times, but no problem falling asleep, just staying asleep.

I have been on the other side of the change for a year now...I guess I went through it early...I'm 49 now. The five years before were really tough. Severe PMS and perimenopause....very tough time of my life. So hang in there sister....it is much calmer on the other side! ;) Only problem is now it is tough facing the aging issues. Things just don't work like the used to, and everything aches at times and things are hanging a bit low! LOL

It's just me, Thomas and the doggie so I've got some strange hours..LOL Lately, I've been napping from about 9pm to 11 or 12 and then up all night til around 7:30 am and then go sleep during the day...

I've always has a hard time going to sleep but since menopause began (early) I've had an awful time with it. My momma went throug the change by the time she was 51, my sister by 50 and me, well I'm getting ready to turn 49.

Peace,
Stephanie

LOL...Stephanie, I don't sleep very well at times. So I get up and try to stay quiet so the rest of the house can get their sleep. Don't want a bunch of grumpy kids and hubby. So I get on the computer!

Some of the farmgirls in Japan and Australia and Nance of France when she is in France post during the middle of the night because of the time zone changes. Aunt Jenny will to occasionally, she is also a non-sleeper!

Great work I like it too! I also liked your shell idea
Aunt George Posted - Jun 22 2007 : 7:24:41 PM
Hmmmm. ...brilliant idea Kathie! I have some strong magnets with a sticky back. I'll experiment!! Kathie, send me your address and I'll send you a Handy Can so you can experiment with it! I have a purple one ready to go. It is the one with funky flowers and buttons. I'll sew on a longer seam ripper pocket for you and get some magnets under the wool felting to see what happens.

Very simple concept and very, very useful to a sewer!!!

Thanks for the encouragement!!

How's everyones pinkeeps coming along.....Come on Frannie.....I know you have one there, I bet it is a gorgeous rustic cutie pie!!!

Kathie, scary? I don't believe it. Now mine is scary!! So you now know what I am really like! LOL....Oh, I added a little pocket on the pinkeep to tuck in my seam ripper and another one for my thimble. I am notorious for misplacing all of my working tools as I sew...not anymore!!!!

I have finally thunk up a name for my pinkeep. Does this sound stupid? The Handy Can.

or Sewing Handy Can. LOL....I don't know why I have to name things...just a little quirk of mine.

i have to say, i loved the first one, but i adore this one as well. good job. and i think it is important that it is functional and feels like you.
i have made 3, well im on my third one and every one has been just not quite right, then an idea will come to me that i think makes it seem more like me, and not something that i am trying to win with.
i have never been competitive, so i think. but i really want to do a good job here. anywho, hope i get one finished in time.

love

Aw Georganna i love it!!
Such a cute idea!! & SEE.. you can USE this..
I think that has to be the key too... not JUST cute..
But definatly something that you can use.. I LOVE felt too!!
& flowers layered are a great additional idea.. you'll be able to hold more pins.. or dif. colors on the petals!

Great idea I think!!
Mine is really scary now.. not finished .. so you can't see it yet..

Okay, I threw caution to the wind and entered my recycle/thrift pinkeep that I made. It is an idea that I've been mulling forever and decided to just go for it!! It is totally who I am, not delicate, not purty, but very, very practical. The inner farmgirl took over and well, it is something my grandmother would have done and she was a farmgirl for sure!!!

Come on gals.....just do it!!!! I hope ya'll don't laugh too hard when you see my entry!!! It is not velvet and opalescent! When you see it, you will see the real me!!

I already sent it!! Oh, I'm nauseated from the suspense!!

This is what I used: tin can, felted wool sweater sleeves, button, craft thread. I LOVE it, it probably won't win, but I know I will use this for years. It is exactly what I have wanted for years!!!

I posted it on my blog if you want a peak at it! Like I said, don't laugh too hard, just this farmgirl's idea of a useful pinkeep!!

Love and hugs to everyone and I wish all of us Good Luck!!!

G- Adorable!! I have some clam shells left over from our dinner on Father's Day waiting to be crafted into something. Hmmmm- may have to borrow your idea. :)
You know, I know how all of you feel about the pinkeeps- not knowing which one, if it's good enough, etc. That's why I threw caution to the wind and entered my first one. I'd be stressing like crazy if I hadn't. They are all very beautiful. I'm glad I don't have to pick! ;)
