Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 09:38:20 AM I decided to go ahead and start the tea towel swap. Please before signing up read this post carefully. The guidelines are simple. Sign ups are until June 22. Then mail 1 hand stitched tea towel with a tuck in all wrapped in tissue paper to me.Also an envelope with enough return postage on it. They must me in my hands by July 26. You have over a month to get the package to me.July 26 isn't the mail date. It is the date to have in my hands. So please mail early. As you know I won't wait for late packages. They will be sent back. This is open to all farm girls. I don't mean to sound harsh but in life we must have rules in order for things to be fair for everyone.
Blessings, Elizabeth

Posted - Aug 27 2007 : 6:03:13 PM Shirley, Sometimes we do one on one swaps and sometimes we do them where we send our towels to whomever is the hostess for the swap and after receiving them she sends them out so everyone gets a different one than they sent. The only thing that makes a swap difficult is if someone does not send theirs or is not on time. Usually though I think they will let the hostess know, say, if there is something that is delaying them. ie; a family issue or sickness or something. Lots of times there is a deadline given and if a person misses the deadline their towel is sent back so as not to hold everyone up waiting. Many of the "rules" are usually made up by the person hosting. I have never hosted a swap so maybe someone who has could better answer this.

Posted - Aug 27 2007 : 09:35:25 AM Hi Denise - thank you for responding. I am going to start some tea towels and when your group decides to do this again, I'll be ready. It sounds like everyone sends the towel to you and then you send one of those to each who entered the group. Is that right? It sounds like great fun. I have participated in recipe and towel exchanges where there were two names and you send a towel to the name on top and add yours to the bottom and forward the letter on to 5 or 6 friends who do the same. That way you get more than one recipe or towel. |

Posted - Aug 22 2007 : 08:19:39 AM Hi Shirley and hey welcome to the forum. The tuck ins are usually something small. Can be note cards or some little handmade items or a pattern for something. Just about anything you think a farmgirl might like to go along with the towel.

Posted - Aug 22 2007 : 07:56:12 AM I just joined Mary Jane's Farm Connection. If this is something you decide to try again, please let me know (with plenty of time to create). Also, what types of "tuck ins" did you get so I have an idea on what to do. |
