Little girls, dresses, brings back memories. Those dresses are so cute on those sweet little girls! You did a great job, they look perfect. I used to make little dresses like that with matching bloomers when my daughters were very young. Wish I had saved one. Thinking back I remember making my little sister something like that when she was a little girl. I was only 14 when I made it for her. That was my first year of sewing. Learned in home-ec class in jr. high. My favorite class back then.

Isnn't it funny how that works, sometimes I have yards and yards of hideous fabric and I make a couple outfits, and they are just scrumptious!! Hmmm...wonder why?!! helps with a couple of cuties like those two!!

ok i just adore the blue polka dot one, makes me wish my girls were still that little

I am so lucky my friend emailed me a shot of them in the dresses. When I visited, I could not get both of them to wear them at the same time!!! The mom picked the fabric and sent it to me last year. It looks much cuter as a dress than just yardage.

Thank you for all the nice comments. My own little girl is now almost 15 so it is great fun to sew these type of dresses up for my friend's girls.

The pattern is Simplicity 4262, an "It's so easy" one. it should still be available as it was from last year. The pockets and trim took the most time, but they really make the dresses. Swing top was a different pattern, McCalls 2779. I am not sure how old the McCalls one is as it was from the stash. I am much beter at sewing from a pattern. I admire all you who make up your designs.

My friend sent me the green dotted fabric last summer, but I never got time to make them for her girls. I was determined to get them done this year. I used a repro green print for the coordinating bloomers.

The other print was from my stash, a Kaffe Fassett I got while visiting my brother last year in VA. I love to bring back fabric as my souveniour (sp?). My grandma made my sister and I reversible swing tops with bloomers when we were 2&3 and 3&4. I wish we still had them. They were so similar to these.

Bonnie, I wish we lived closer. We would have the best time sewing together. I have hopes of meeting up with you for a road trip in August.

Happy summer sewing to all of you.

Clare,
Those are just too too sweet! I love the fabrics and your workmanship is wonderful. Makes me remember when my gals were little. Don't you just love having kids in your life? yours or sommeone elses. They can really put you right in the momment and make you appreciate(SP?) what is around you and find joy in the little things. I would love to see a pic of those darling little ones in those dresses.

Are those the cutest things? I LOVE that green one! Reminds me of the dresses my mom used to get me at Polly Flenders, in downtown Cincinnati.
