Posted - Jun 06 2007 : 10:42:17 AM I was visiting a new blog the other and saw the cutest lamps. This gal bought two lamps with the clear glass bases that can be filled. Then she filled them with yo yo's. The shades she recovered in coordinating fabric then handstitched yo yo's all around the bottom edge of the shade - looked like yo yo fringe. Unfortunately I can't find the link to the pictures. I'll look for it and post later.

Posted - Aug 08 2007 : 10:25:23 PM You know how people make lamps out of quart canning jars?? I have one of those. Bet it would look cute with yo yo's in it. Not quite shabby chic but a good substitute until I can find another lamp. Now to remember where I put the lamp!

Posted - Aug 08 2007 : 06:56:30 AM I haven't seen any lamps yet that would work but I'm still on the hunt. As I was doing my yo yo's for the swap I kept dreaming of the 400 or so it would take to fill a lamp!!

Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 9:41:52 PM I could see something like that used in a room where you make a valance out of yo yo's to match then make edging on your bed skirt to match and on pillows on a bed and make little placemat type doilies out of yo yo's to set potted plants on..oooh the ideas are endless but you could have a really cute cottage look with yo-yo whimsy all over and then as shown small quilts on the wall. What a girly-girly look. I like the idea.

Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 8:20:03 PM cute lamp but it would drive me nuts having all those yo-yos locked up like that so I couldn't use them. I know I know they are in use but it would still drive me nuts

Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 8:12:33 PM Okay ladies -- I found it! It's another fabric designer named Holly Holdernam (Lakehouse Dry Goods). Just got the "H" names confused. Here's the link to the adorable lamps. Scroll up to the top, you'll see a pictue of an adorable cat, and then the lamps.

And she used one of those Clover yo yo makers to do hers.

Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 8:05:31 PM Maybe it wasn't Heather's site??? I was sure it was in her pictures of when she went to Spring Market -- part of her display. Then there was a description how she made the lamps, how many yo yo's, etc. I look at so many sites that it's possible it was someone else's.

Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 09:08:07 AM luv the lamp & shade idea, using yoyos to decorate them... I was thumbing through a recent catalog that I received & low & behold it had a deco pillow made with yoyo's, 'cept they called it a 'pinwheel' pillow...& the price was a hefty $56 for a 12x12 pillow w/ approx 48 yoyos onthe front side only....ladies, I'm thinking we have very good taste!!

Posted - Jun 07 2007 : 08:00:41 AM yeah I have used one of them there are 8 differnt ones. I thought it was faster if you are using scrapes if vutting lots at once it was faster to make a stack of fabric and cut with rotary cutter. But it does have the plus of being able to hold slick fabric still. Which is cool as I have tons of old silk shirts that belonged to my Vavo that I want to make a yoyo coverlet out of for the parlor. there is a post on my blog about it make sure to read comments too as there are tips in there too here is the link for you http://sunshinescreations.vintagethreads.com/2007/05/30-mm-clover-yoyo-green-one.html

Here's the blog link. http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/heather_bailey/ Heather Bailey has new line of fabric called Fresh Cut. It is to die for!! Lucinda -- do you remember where you saw the lamp pictures? They are just adorable. I just love yo yo's -- for some reason I'm drawn to anything that is made from them or adorned with them.
