I hope it's ok that I started a new topic for this. I have some questions about the minis and didn't want them to get lost under the swap topic.
I've been enjoying reading about them and seeing the photos has been inspiring. Kathie, yours are so cute! If we make them for a garland, should they all be like a little waist apron (like Kathie's) so they can be tied or clipped together? I have seen some made as bib type aprons, but didn't know if they could be strung together without flopping over.
Somewhere it was mentioned that they were about palm sized. Is that right? My palm is about 3 inches across, is that a "normal" size?
I thought Kathie's looked bigger than that in the photo. Can anyone give me an exact measurement they are using for one? I want to try making a couple before I commit to any swap.

Oh, and I was doing a search and found these instructions for making a little apron that goes over your dish soap bottle. Anyone need another project??

Thanks for your help.

Wow! I just rememebred,,,my mom use to make the bib type "mini aprons" for liquid soap bottles.
Do any of you rememebr them??? I nearly forgot all about them till I was re-filling my soap dispenser on my kitchen counter...the were bib typew/1/2" lace ruffle all around them & I think she used folded bias tape for the ties.

Exactly right..
Jessica & i had talked about it & i had started to feel as if mine Mini's were leaning toward the Paul Bunyan side of the mini's again.. ( as I am so prone to do.. but after we talked.. they sounded to be nearly the same size..
i know in looking at Aunt Georges, her's are smaller then mine did turn out..
But i think this is fine too..
a variety will be a good thing!!!..
Rememeber.. as varied as We farm grils will be.. So shall our Apron's be!

As long as for the Garland's..they stay somewhere with in the same size..
My picture has two Aprons pined on a picture frame..

I haven't tried one yet with the pinafore yet.. But i KNOW someone told me that they had before..
HELLOOOO... out there? if you have a picture of a Mini Pinafore type Apron.. we'd love to see it!

as far as them working with the skirt type ones.. i'm thinking they can be tied at the neck loop or tie's possibly & just hang a smidge longer..

I know there has been many diffrent types mentioned.. One girl told me that she couldn't sew for beans.. had planned on knittimg a pair of aprons.. another said she was glueing her fabric rather then stitching it.. & an other said that she cut her fabric with Pinking Shears so she wouldn't have to hem her Apron's!! & yet another said she was going work in a paper medium!!

so..see.. many.. many diffrent types of Aprons!! just like all of us!!

yes anne, you are right...I usually use a piece of cloth that is approx 8"x4 or5", hem it and gather it. My gauge is that they tie up nicely around the top of a pint size Ball Jar. They do not all have to be uniform, just small with a pocket or two, very simple, remember, very simple...jess
