Yesterday I attended a serger trunk show at a local sewing shop. During break I was browsing and passed the area set aside for trade-ins and guess what was sitting there? This beautiful machine just begging me to take home. At first I debated, but then the sales lady brought out the suitcase (which you can see the lining fabric in the picture) and it was a done deal. I love vikings, and this is a 1955-1966 model (I'll work on figuring out the specific year, soon) which run and run and run. The picture doesn't do justice to the gunmetal green color.

Unfortunately the extension table wasn't turned in with the machine so I asked if they could find out from the customer if it was just not brought in or if it was in fact lost. I'll start searching for one that fits this 21a model, maybe I'll find one!

Anyway, here's the picture: isn't it gorgeous!

You put curlers in your boys' hair, Michele? ;)

Grace, you are not the only victims of twin outfits. Every Christmas, and Easter, My two sisters, and myself had the same dresses, and my mom made one for herself too. All four of us looking alike. My dad usually cut our bangs, oh so crooked, and curled our hair. I think he only knew one way to put the curlers in, to end up with one big flip on the bottoms. So fun looking at those pictures. I did it for my boys when they were young too. Michele

Lizabeth,
Great Machine! I hope you will stitch many an hour on it.

Grace, What is wrong with the "twin outfit" ... I dress my boys like that.

Aren't they wonderful work horses???? I have my mom's old green Bernina(sp) packed up in storage, along with all my other stuff,..My mom sewed all my sister's & my clothes. Yes, we were victims of the "twins outfits", mind you, there is 8 years between my sis & me. I hated having a "mini me" back in the 60's...now we nearly wet our panties laughing so hard when we yack about those days along with the home hair cuts mom gave us..there are some things mom's just ought not do!
I loved learning to sew from my mom & on that old machine. It was her pride.

Exactly, Michelle! That is what I see when I look at this machine... and I consider myself priviledged to continue its history making.

I still have a Viking my parents bought me in 1970, it still runs great and has had lots and lots of use over the years. Only one repair in all the time. Don't use it as often any more as I caught the machine embroidery bug several years back but it is still my back up.

You got to wonder, how many things that machine has sewn in its lifetime. How many baby clothes, aprons, curtains, weddings! Michele
