Hi, I was wondering how everyone does their towel embroidery. I tried using one of the towels and they just seem to thin to really look nice. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help!

I get mine at our local Ace hardware..they have thin ones and thick ones and they are about 75 cents more for the thicker ones..worth it to me. I got some of the walmart ones and didn't like them as well. I do use them but they arn't my favorites.

In the Stitching Book I think Linen-N-Things was recommended for getting the towels. I would like a little heavier towel. Mikki, did you get the one's you're using now at Wal-Mart?

There are for sure some that are heavier than others. Usually if they are about $2 each or more they are thicker.

Mikki Jo Some towels are heavier than others, I order mine from Herrschners and have always been pleased. I have used some of the thinner ones it just takes more work to keep the stitches looking nice, I sometimes spray starch them first.

Mikki Jo,

If you email me your address privately, I'll send you some really nice Tea Towels that are much "heavier" in weight. I brought about 2 dozen from a company called American Chair and they are nice....I am not doing them right now and would be happy to share some with you.I think you will like the feel and texture.

Mikki Jo,
I have never embroidered on a flour sack towel, at least not yet. Are some of the flour sack towels thicker then others?
